Lot 20.  Authenticated Boris Karloff Signature Dated 1951, Frankenstein Photo. Karloff became a star by playing Frankenstein’s monster in the 1931 movie “Frankenstein.” He reprised the role in “Bride of Frankenstein” (1935) and “Son of Frankenstein” (1939). In the 10 ¼” x 12 ¼” matted and framed display offered here, a 5” x 6” black and white photo shows Karloff as the monster. Below the photo is a large pencil cut with his signature. The cut measures about 1 ½” x 5” and grades nm-m 8 with a slight stain behind the “B.” Below the autograph is the notation: “Boris Karloff, Fall 1951.” Letter of Authenticity from James Spence. Lot 290.  Iraq “Most Wanted” Card Set Signed by the Colonel Who Caught Saddam Hussein. This 56-card commemorative set is like the set used by U.S. Forces to hunt down leaders of the Iraqi regime. The set is nm-m in the original box. The Ace of Spades, the card of Saddam Husayn Al-Tikriti (Hussein), has been boldly signed in blue sharpie by “James B. Hickey Colonel USA.” Colonel Hickey was the commander of the 1st Brigade, 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized), which led the Dec. 13, 2003, raid that resulted in Hussein’s capture. The signature is a 10. A unique and wonderful collectible representing a world event that has helped to define the Bush presidency. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 291.  Clarke Gable’s Signature on a 1945 Canceled Check. An 8” x 10” photo of the Holly-wood star and the check have been professionally matted and framed, creating a display of 15” x 22”. The check, dated March 10, 1945, was drawn on the Security-First National Bank of Los Angeles. The check is punched away from Gable’s signature and has a nm appearance. The signature is a 10 with an inoffensive cancellation stamp. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 292.  Lauren Bacall Signature on a Time Cover Featuring a Henry Koerner Portrait. Beautiful portrait of the actress with an autograph that rates a 10. The signature is on the cover of the July 29, 1966 issue, which was folded for mailing. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 293.  March 27, 1964 Time Signed by John Cheever, Pulitzer Prize-Winning Writer. Cheever (1912-82) won the 1979 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, as well as the National Book Critics Circle Award, for his collection of short stories, The Stories of John Cheever. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 294.  Autographed Photo of Jimmy Durante. This vintage 5”x7” b&w portrait has been personalized to “Marguerite” and signed in blue ballpoint pen. Above his signature, Durante added “A Pleasure.” Durante, who was affectionately called “Schnozzola” for obvious reasons, was a star of stage, radio, television and movies for more than 40 years. He died in 1980. The photo is ex, and the signature is a mint 9.

Lot 295.  8” x 10” B&W Photo Nicely Signed by John Hart as the Lone Ranger. Hart played the role of the masked good guy from 1952-54. During that period, Clayton Moore, more widely recognized in the role, and the show’s producers were at odds, apparently over money, but possibly over egos. Some thought Hart played the role better than Moore. Hart signed the photo “Best wishes, John Hart, The Lone Ranger.” Great photo of Hart with “Silver” and a bold 10 autograph! And scarce! Lot 296.  Baseball Signed by the Lone Ranger. Rawlings “Official League” baseball signed on the sweet spot by John Hart, who added “The Lone Ranger.” Authenticated by Kevin Keating. From 1952-54, Hart replaced Clayton Moore, who apparently was involved in a dispute with the show’s producers. Ball is nm. Signature in blue ballpoint is 8 of 10 with a couple of letters traced over. Lot 297.  Rudolf Nureyev Signed Cover of the April 16, 1965 Time Magazine. Nureyev (1938-93) is regarded as one of the best male ballet dancers of the 20th century. He was a dancer-choreographer for the Soviet Union’s Kirov Ballet. His signature is a 9-10 on the cover, which was folded for mailing. Tough autograph! Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 298.  Autograph of Movie Star Jane Russell on an 8” x 10” B&W Photo. Russell starred in a variety of movies in the 1940s-50s, including “The Paleface” opposite Bob Hope and “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” opposite Marilyn Monroe. She also had a successful nightclub act. Her first husband was Los Angeles Rams quarterback Bob Waterfield. Russell’s autograph in silver sharpie is personalized to “Gary.” It rates a nm-m 8 and is dated 1990.

Lot 302.  Time Issues Signed by Republicans – Goldwater, Rockefeller, Dirksen, Connally. Except for Connally, all were leaders of the Republican Party in the 1960s. 1. Barry Goldwater (1909-98), June 12, 1964 issue, nm 7 autograph. The signature is strong against a somewhat dark background. Goldwater served five terms in the U.S. Senate and ran unsuccessfully for President in 1964. 2. Nelson Rockefeller (1908-79), March 8, 1968 issue, mint 9 signature. He served a governor of New York and Vice President of the U.S. 3. Everett M. Dirksen (1896-1969) and Barry Goldwater, July 10, 1964 issue, mint to gem mint 9-10 Dirksen signature, light Goldwater autograph. A U.S. Senator from Illinois 1951-69, Dirksen was a strong supporter of civil rights legislation and the Vietnam War. 4. John Connally (1917-93), Jan. 17, 1964 issue, mint 9 signature. Governor of Texas as a Democrat, he switched parties and served as Treasury Secretary under President Nixon. The autographs are on Time covers that were folded for mailing.
