Pittsburgh Maulers Sideline Cape Used by Quarterback Glenn Carano.
Lot 159. Pittsburgh Maulers Sideline Cape Used by Quarterback Glenn Carano. After seven seasons as a back-up with the Dallas Cowboys, Carano landed the starting quarterback job in 1984 with the Maulers of the upstart United States Football League (USFL). The Maulers played their home games at Three Rivers Stadium, but they practiced in suburban Pittsburgh at the Wallace School in the Baldwin-Whitehall School District. A janitor there obtained this raincoat-cape as the Maulers folded following the 1984 season. The cape has the #18, Carano’s uniform number, written inside just below the hood. Carano’s name is written near the inside bottom. The purple cape has the Maulers’ name and logo on the back and remnants of mud indicate game use. The logo shows some wear. Otherwise, the cape is ex-m and displays extremely well. Anything from the Maulers, and especially field equipment, is extremely scarce.
Winning Bid $185.
