Lot 220. Magnificent “Pittsburgh Backs Its Bucs” 1979 World Series 44” x 45” Banner. This black and gold banner, which features a large image of the Pirates’ mascot, was on display in the Steel City as Pittsburgh and Chuck Tanner outmaneuvered Baltimore and Earl Weaver for the 1979 World Championship. The banner has several stains along the left and right edges from a substance that someone used to display it. It also has some chalk or paint stains that likely could be removed. The banner serves as a nostalgic reminder of those wonderful and ancient days when the Pirates fielded competitive teams.
