Lot 193. 60 Early 1900s Postcards Featuring Scenes of Massachusetts. Lighthouses, trolleys, important buildings and other structures are the subjects of these postcards. Early cars and even some horses also can be seen. All but a couple of the postcards are pre-linen. Fifteen were postmarked before 1920, seven in the 1920s and one in 1937. Eleven were designed to have the message written on the front. Communities represented are Attleboro, 1 card. Boston, 7 including four of railway stations plus Scollay Square, Commonwealth Ave. Boston Harbor, 9 including Graves, Boston, Bug, Minot’s and Dear Island Lights. Cambridge, Harvard Square. Charlestown Bridge. Chelsea. Fairhaven. Fall River, 6 including various views of Slade’s Ferry Bridge. Gloucester, 5 with four showing lighthouses. Lowell, Hood’s Sarsaparilla Lab. Nahant. Nantasket, 4. New Bedford, 7 including street and trolley scenes. Newburyport, Chain Bridge. North Leominster, Monoosnock Country Club. Plymouth Harbor, Duxbury Pier Light. Salem, 2 showing trolleys. Salisbury Beach. Somerville, Winter Hill Station. Springfield, 4, all with trolleys. Worcester, 3, Front Street, Lincoln Square with a horse-drawn wagon. The cards are predominantly vg, vg-ex and ex.
