Lot 191. A View From Above Written and Autographed by Wilt Chamberlain. One of the best basketball players of all time, Chamberlain was a two-time All-American center at the University of Kansas. During 14 seasons in the NBA, “Wilt the Stilt" (over 7’ 1”) led the league in scoring seven consecutive seasons (1959-65), was the leader in field goal percentage nine times, the top rebounder 11 times, and the MVP 4 years (1960, 1966-68). He played with the Philadelphia Warriors and 76ers and the Los Angeles Lakers. Famed for his long-standing rivalry with Boston's Bill Russell, he set many records, including 100 points scored in a game (1962, against the New York Knicks) and 23,924 career rebounds. His controversial autobiography, View from Above (1991), focuses on the lifestyle of a professional athlete. This first edition hardcover book is signed “Peace Wilt Chamberlain” in large blue sharpie. The signature is a gem mint 10. The book is nm with a small red mark on the bottom outside edges of the pages and a ¾” red mark on the top outside pages near the spine. The dust jacket has some scratches, no tears or creases and an ex-m appearance. Chamberlain passed away in 1999.
