Lot 137. 16 Chicago Cubs Scorecards, 1938-46. These scorecards range from vg to ex+ and average vg+ to ex. Some have a number (#) written on the front, some are scored (S), and others have the game’s box score (Bx) from a newspaper, or a ticket stub (T) or both glued in. 1938: Vs. Philadelphia, S. 1939: 7 different. Actually, two are Chicago White Sox programs – from the City Baseball Championship series played in October between the Cubs and Sox. The Sox won the series in seven games. Four programs are from the series, for Games 2, 3, 4 and 6. Two are Cubs home programs. All have the game number on the cover and box scores pasted inside. Other 1939 programs are vs. Brooklyn (#, S) with Dizzy Dean pitching a shutout for the Cubs, vs. St. Louis (#, Bx) and vs. New York (#, Bx). 1940: Both vs. New York, one (Bx, T) with Root on the cover, and the other (Bx, T) with Leiber on the cover. 1941: 3 different, one vs. Cincinnati (#, Bx, T). Two are for the series with the White Sox, Oct. 1 (T) and Oct. 5 (T). 1945: Both vs. Philadelphia, May 24 (#, T, Bx) and Sept. 14 (#, Bx), both with Jimmie Foxx in the printed lineup. 1946: Vs.
