Lot 712. Handwritten Letter Signed by Buffalo Bob Smith of “Howdy Doody” Fame. Born in Buffalo, N.Y., Smith was a radio singer and musician before he created and hosted the popular “Howdy Doody” television program on NBC from 1947-60. He died in 1998. Smith’s letter, dated 1989 and written on 7” x 10 ½” letterhead, transmits a photo of Clarabell and himself. At the bottom of the letterhead is a printed drawing of Smith and Howdy. The letter has some creases along the bottom edge. It is signed “Bob Smith,” and the signature is a mint 9. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.
