Lot 435.  Clear, Readable Joe Montana Signature on the Jan. 25, 1982 Sports Illustrated. The SI cover photography is outstanding, but what makes this such a remarkably desirable piece is the vintage Montana signature. Unlike his recent autographs, which are essentially unreadable, this one has every letter in his name fully articulated! Wonderful and extremely rare in this form!! Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 436.  Early, Very Readable Dan Marino Autograph on the Nov. 14 1983 Sports Illustrated. Cover only, no label. Personalized to “Bob” with “Thanks for your support.” The signature is a 10 and unusually readable. Great Marino example for your collection. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 437.  “Special Commemorative” Nov. 29, 1999 Sports Illustrated Signed by Jim Brown. Still the best of the ball carriers, Brown signed the cover of this full nm-m news stand issue in silver sharpie and added “HOF 71.” The issue celebrates 50 years of the Browns in Cleveland. The signature is a 10. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 438.  Aug. 23, 1982 Sports Illustrated Cover-Only Signed by Franco Harris. Outstanding sharpie 10 autograph of Harris on a superb photo of the Steelers’ Hall of Fame running back. The cover is nm without a label. The most attractive Harris autograph and photo we’ve seen. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 439.  John Riggins Signature on the Cover of a 1983 Issue of Pro Football. Strong gold sharpie 10 autograph of the Redskins’ Hall of Fame fullback. Cover only, no label. He remains a comparatively tough autograph. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 440.  Herschel Walker Autographs on 3 Different Sports Illustrated Covers. Two covers show Walker with the Georgia Bulldogs, and the third, with the Minnesota Vikings. 1. Nov. 17, 1980, cover only, g-vg, sharpie 10 signature with “#34” added after his name. 2. Aug. 31, 1981, SI “College Football Issue,” full ex-m issue with a sharpie 10 signature. 3. Oct. 23, 1989, cover only, ex-m, sharpie 10 signature. Walker is generally regarded as one of the top two or three running backs in college football history. Although he failed to live up to what may have been unrealistic expectations as a pro, he nevertheless retired among the top 20 NFL players in combined net yards. The total does not include the yards he gained in the USFL. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 441.  December 1955 Issue of SPORT Magazine Signed Twice by Hugh McElhenny. The San Francisco running back placed a large, bold sharpie 10 signature on the colorful cover, which bears his photograph. He also signed over his image on page 29. This signature is also a 10. The issue is vg with a name written in pencil on the “P” in “Sport” on the cover. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 442.  Sept. 19, 1966 Sports Illustrated Signed by Heisman Trophy Winner Gary Beban. Nicknamed “The Great One,” Beban led UCLA to a 9-1 record and a No. 5 finish in the AP poll in 1966 as a junior. Despite his heroics, it was Steve Spurrier’s year to win the Heisman Trophy. Beban’s turn came at the end of the 1967 season, after he led the Bruins to a 7-2-1 record and a No.10 ranking. The label has been removed from this full issue, which grades ex. Beban’s sharpie signature is a 10. He added “U.C.L.A. ‘68” below. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 445.  SI Jan. 30, 1984 Super Bowl Cover Signed by the Oakland Raider’s Jack Squirek. Late in the first half of Super Bowl XVIII, Squirek, a Raiders linebacker, intercepted a Joe Theismann pass and returned it for a touchdown to give Oakland a 21-3 halftime lead over Washington. Sports Illustrated cover only, no label. Squirek’s personalized signature is an ex-m to nm 6-7. Scarce. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.
