Lot 479. Early 1900s Chicago Area “Spalding” Baseball Team. Photo is 7” x 8 ½” on a mount that has been trimmed to 9” x 11”. The team poses in what appears to be a relatively large ball park. The photo is sharp, and the contrast strong. Excellent tie-in to A. G. Spalding & Bros.

Lot 481. Damaged 1903 Photo of the Pittsburgh Pirates with Honus Wager. This cabinet photo by a Hot Springs, Ark., photographer is broken into three major pieces. Some smaller pieces are missing so that the face of one player is totally missing, and another is affected. The 8” x 13” photo on a 11” x 17” mount was nicely executed, showing excellent focus and contrast. The images of Wagner, Fred Clarke, Tommy Leach and 12 other players are intact. Ginger Beaumont and Deacon Leaver are among those pictured.

Lot 483. Original American Press Association Glass Slide from the 1913 World Series. This 3 ¼” x 4” lantern slide captures Game 3 World Series action at New York’s Polo Grounds. Leadoff batter Eddie Murphy of the Philadelphia Athletics is out at first base. Jeff Tesreau is on the mound for New York. The A’s defeated the Giants, 8-2, and captured the Series in five games.

Lot 485. Large Vintage Team Photo of the 1932 National League Champion Chicago Cubs. Real photo is 12” x 17” and affixed to a cardboard backing. It grades vg-ex due to some inoffensive creases along the edges. The photo itself is outstanding. It possesses great contrast and is sharply focused. Players include Herman, Grimes, Hartnett, Root and manager Grimm.

Lot 486. Large Original Wire Photo of the 1937 National League Champion New York Giants. The picture includes Ott, Hubbell, Bartell, Bill Terry, the manager, and Dolph Luque, the “Pride of Havana” and a Giants coach. The 9” x 14” photo has edge chips, several tears, several heavy creases and some lighter creases. In general, the players’ images are unaffected. The photo is sharply focused and shows excellent contrast.

Lot 487. 11” x 14” Color Photo of the 1947-1957 Brooklyn Dodgers. The photo is of the original painting by artist Clifford Spohn, which was used on the cover of Sports Collectors Digest 1995. Jackie Robinson, Roy Campanella, Gil Hodges, Pee Wee Reese, Don Drysdale and Sandy Koufax are among those pictured. Nm-m. Attractive memento of classic Dodgers teams.

Lot 488. Fantastic Mickey Mantle 8” x 10” Color Photo. Mantle is pictured in a mid-career home pinstripes uniform. Famous photographer Neil Leifer captured a smiling Mantle. Produced in extremely limited quantities, this magnificent photo of the Mick may be the finest you’ll ever come across. It would frame up nicely with a cut signature or autograph on an index card. Lot 376. Print, Color Photo, Pennant Featuring Roberto Clemente. The black & white Robert Riger print, titled “Clemente Lines One Over Second,” depicts “The Great One” swinging a bat. Professionally matted and framed to 16” x 20” in Pirates black and gold with a team logo in the lower left. The color photo, which also shows Clemente batting, is also matted and framed in Pirates colors, to about 18” x 22”. The full-sized pennant is from “Roberto Clemente Day Honoring the Life of Roberto Clemente.” It lists accomplishments and highlights of Clemente’s career. Vg with pin hole.
