1962 New York at San Francisco World Series Program.
Lot 189. 1962 New York at San Francisco World Series Program. This series featured the deluge and the final Fall Classic confrontation between Willie Mays and Mickey Mantle. After the Yankees took a 3 games to 2 lead in New York, rain delayed Game 6 for several days. When play did resume, many programs were damaged by the continuing rain. This 54-page unscored program is ex and especially nice for this series. The Yankees captured the World Championship in seven games. Bobby Richardson ensured the Yankees’ victory by spearing Willie McCovey’s line drive with the Giants’ tying and winning runs in scoring position. Neither Mays nor Mantle was a significant factor. Ralph Terry won Games 5 and 7 for the Yankees.
Winning Bid $102.
