1947 Dodgers at Yankees World Series Program Featuring Jackie Robinson.
Lot 188. 1947 Dodgers at Yankees World Series Program Featuring Jackie Robinson. The unscored vg+ to ex program is probably for Game 2, which saw Robinson batting second in the lineup. He was, of course, the first African-American to play in the World Series. He was also a star of Game 2, going two-for-four and driving in a run. The 56-page program pictures Yankee icons Ruth and Gehrig, as well as notables such as DiMaggio, Rizzuto, Berra, Reese, Robinson and Hodges. As a matter of trivia, this series also featured the second African-American to compete for the World Championship – Dan Bankhead, a pitcher used as a pinch runner in Game 6. He scored to help take the series to Game 7 – won by the Yankees. Bankhead is pictured.
Winning Bid $212.
