Lot 177. 1938-1942 Burley Cubs Baseball Jersey. The 1938-1942 Burley Cubs of Greenville, Tenn., were affiliates of the Chicago Cubs. They won the championship of the Appalachian League in 1938. They were the predecessors of the modern day Greenville Astros. This pinstriped size 42 wool jersey features “BURLEY CUBS” in bold navy blue felt letters across the chest and the number “6” in navy blue felt on the reverse. The jersey by Spalding shows a moderate amount of use and a slight bit of staining. It exhibits a superb period look. It comes with a Letter of Authenticity from Collectible Classics.
