March 19, 1971 Life Autographed by Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali.
Lot 164. March 19, 1971 Life Autographed by Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali. A good case can be made that a signed copy of this magazine is most desirable of all collectibles related to the Ali-Frazier wars. After all, the cover photo, which the two combatants signed, was taken by Frank Sinatra. The vocalist contributed to the photography inside the magazine as well. At least equally important, the text describing their 1971 battle was written by Norman Mailer. In terms less literary than Mailer’s, Ali lost the “Fight of the Century” at Madison Square Garden. Frazier won a hard-fought bout that included a punch that briefly put Ali on the canvas. It was only the third knockdown of Ali’s career. The magazine is complete and ex to ex-m with the label neatly removed. The sharpie autographs are 10. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.
Winning Bid $222.
