Lot 286. 10-Inch Plate Commemorating Don Larsen’s World Series Perfect Game. The New York Yankees’ pitcher achieved perfection against the Brooklyn Dodgers in Game 5 of the 1956 World Series on Oct. 8. Larsen faced the minimum number of Brooklyn batters, 27. He struck out seven. Dodgers pitcher Sal Maglie, a former Yankee, turned in a credible performance, giving up two runs on five hits. Titled “The Perfect Game,” the plate shows Yankee Stadium in the background and the box score below Larsen’s image. The Henberad Corporation produced the undated plate for the Little-Jones Co. The plate, which sits on a display easel, is mint. Uncommon.
