Lot 68.  3 1940 Pitt Football Programs. These programs are for games in October vs. Missouri, SMU and Fordham. The cover of each features a stylized scene of the Pittsburgh area – the Cathedral of Learning, a steel mill, and the city from the Point. Each program contains about 40 pages of photos and text. The 1940 team, which included Ernie Bonelli, defeated Missouri, tied SMU and lost to Fordham, which was coached by Notre Dame Horseman Jim Crowley. Vg to vg-ex.
Winning Bid $68.

Lot 69.  1948 Leaf Football Wm. (Moose) Fischer Numberless Printing Variation. The back and front of the card are complete with one exception - there is no number on the reverse! Although Fischer is the #7 card in the set, there is no evidence of that on this card. The card grades g with a small 179 written in ink on the back in the upper right. It is an interesting and possibly unique variation.
Winning Bid $152.

Lot 70.  College Football Felts, Pennants – and Footballs! The 14 college felts, each 1 ¾” by about 3”, are for Alcatraz, Brandeis, Cornell, Dartmouth, Fordham, Indiana, Middlebury, Minnesota, Missouri, Pitt, Purdue, Rhode Island, Southern Methodist, Virginia. Ex-m, some better, some less. The two 8 ½” pennants are both for Houston. Nm. There also is an S25 College Seal silk for Bucknell, ex. The footballs come in two sizes – three really small (3/4”) charms and a 5” music box that plays “Alma Mater.” Two footballs represent Wisconsin, and the other, Purdue. The larger football has a Cornell logo, a vg appearance and a Swiss music box inside that works well.
Winning Bid $45.

Lot 71.  1960 Leaf Go-Go College Felt Pennants Complete Box of 24 Unpened Packs. The box is rare and desirable. Complete and intact, it displays very nicely with a few minor tears and slight wear, creasing and staining. The 24 packs have been opened. Winning Bid $242.

Lot 72.  1965 Philadelphia Gum 5 Cent Football Display Box. The box is complete, intact and vg-ex condition. It has good eye appeal and interesting period graphics.

Winning Bid $75.

Lot 76.  Joe Montana Autograph on an 8” x 10” Color Photo. Montana’s signature is a sharpie 10 on a photo mounted on an ex-m+ 12” x 15” wood plaque. A plate on the plaque says “Joe Montana, Quarterback, San Francisco 49er’s.” Authenticated by Kevin Keating.
Minimum Bid $40.

Lot 77.  Norm Van Brocklin Autograph Authenticated by PSA/DNA on a First-Day Cover. The envelope and accompanying stamp are on a first-day of issue envelope marking the 100th anniversary of college football. Usually controversial, Van Brocklin was a winning quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams and Philadelphia Eagles. He won NFL titles with both teams. He also was the NFL’s leading passer in 1950, 1952 and 1954. He died in 1983. His bold felt-tip signature is an 8-9, short of a 10 only because of a slight smudge on the tail of the “n” in “Van.”
Winning Bid $125.

Lot 78.  Bud Wilkinson Signature Authenticated by PSA/DNA on an Unlined Index Card. In 17 seasons, Wilkinson’s Oklahoma teams compiled a 145-29-4 record, won national championships in 1950, 1955 and 1956, and conference championships 14 times. He was Coach of the Year in 1949. He died in 1994.
Winning Bid $40.

Lot 79.  Ticket Stub for the 1930 Army-Notre Dame Game at Soldier Field in Chicago. Army came closer than any other team to preventing Knute Rockne’s team from enjoying a perfect season. The Fighting Irish finished the season 10-0 and were the majority choice among organizations selecting a national champion. Army’s final record was 9-1-1. Strong vg ticket with the score written on it in pencil.
Winning Bid $40.

Lot 80.  Scarce 1931 Magazine Paying Tribute to Rockne. Titled The Last Word!
