2 Early 1900s Tennis Trophies Awarded for Men’s Doubles
Lot 924. 2 Early 1900s Tennis Trophies Awarded for Men’s Doubles by the Ridgewood Golf Club. A trophy cup dated “Labor Day 1901” went to Howard I. Dohrman and Frederick C. Smith. The cup, which is 4 ½” high and 6 ½” across at the handles, has a pewter finish with a gold-colored Indian figure. It is free of any obvious dents or other problems. The second trophy, about 11” high x 8” across, appears to consist of copper and silver plating. Awarded to Howard J. Dohrman and Joseph J. Smith, it is undated.
