Fifty-eight issues of Sports Illustrated from 1954-78 and nine issues of Life from the 1940s-80s cover the Olympics, yachting, skiing, swimming, chess, ice skating, track and field, soccer, marathon racing, hunting and fishing. Among the heroes and champions pictured are Mel Patton of USC, Bonnie Blair, Frank Shorter, Pele, Parry O’Brien, Jim Ryun, Jean Claude Killy, Peggy Fleming, Nadia Comaneci, Bruce Jenner and Bill Rodgers. These issues have mailing labels and average ex, some less, some better. Also, SI’s 1995 “Future Legends: The 20 Brightest Young Stars in Sports” and three paperbacks, including “Here’s Why: Science in Sports.” Booklets: 1963 “Jarman Journal of All Sports” and “Sports Shots” on Jim Kelly, Marino, Ryan and Strawberry. Cards: 1935 Ardath Tobacco “Cricket, Tennis & Golf Celebrities,” Helen Jacobs, U.S. tennis player, ex-m+. 1936 or 1937 Ardath “Photocards,” #145 Fred Perry, “World’s Number One lawn tennis player,” ex-m+. 1954 Quaker “Sports Oddities,” #3 George Quam, one-armed handball champion, 2 nm copies, and #15 Jackie LaVine, champion Chicago swimmer, 3 nm to nm-m copies. Also, a postcard of a Dortmand, Germany, arena and a 1994 soccer card of Erwin Sanchez. And an unused scrapbook with many sports shown on the cover. About 100 individual items.
