Pacific Coast League
4 Lots
Lot 480. 7 ½” x 18” B&W Team Photo of the Record-Setting 1948 PCL San Francisco Seals. Failing to win the PCL championship, the 1948 Seals nevertheless attracted 670,000 spectators, a record lasted for almost 40 years. Lefty O’Doul managed this team, and he is pictured with Gene Woodling, Bill Werle, Cliff Melton, Bob Joyce and other players who made greater and lesser contributions to the majors. The picture is autographed by Manny Perez, who pitched in the PCL for six seasons. A Texas native, he died in California in 1988. Lithographed on thin paper resembling photographic paper, this picture was extracted from something larger. The names of the players in the last row are listed along the top. Vg, looks better.
