Lot 863. 3 First-Day or Commemorative Envelopes Featuring Jackie Robinson + a Bonus. A dramatic hand-painted #10 envelope from Wild Horse Cachets commemorates the 50th anniversary of the end to baseball’s color barrier in 1947. A limited edition, #32 of 80, it features a portrait of Robinson, as well as another image of him and of Ebbets Field. Postmarked in Brooklyn, Cooperstown and Dodger Stadium and signed by the artist, Warren Reed. The two other envelopes, one with Perez-Steele art, have postmarks for the day the U.S. Postal Service issued the Robinson stamp in 1982. Nm.
