Lot 859. 1950s Poster Promoting the Kokomo Clowns “Nite Baseball Circus.” Modeled after the Indianapolis Clowns of the Negro Leagues, the Kokomo Clowns toured the country playing baseball against local teams. Unlike the Indianapolis team, however, the Kokomo Clowns played in clown outfits and makeup. They also played basketball. The team was the brainstorm of Howie Davis, who created the successful Harlem Wizards basketball team. The 13” x 21” poster pictures clowns in black & white inside a red and yellow border.
