Baseball Books, Including Paige and Sunday Biographies, + Periodicals.
Lot 777. Baseball Books, Including Paige and Sunday Biographies, + Periodicals. Biographies of Billy Sunday and Satchel Paige lead the list of books: “Billy’ Sunday, the Man and His Message” by William T. Ellis, 1914, first edition, vg-ex, no dj. And “Don’t Look Back: Satchel Paige in the Shadows of Baseball” by Mark Ribowsky, 1994 first, ex-library, minimal markings, ex book, dj. Equally desirable and less common: Malcom Child’s “How to Play Big League Baseball,” 1951 stated first, vg-ex book, scarce g+ to vg dj. Child also wrote “Pitching,” a 1953 nm book offered here. These are hardbacks, and so are: “Playing America’s Game” by Michael L. Cooper and “Ted Williams’ Hit List.” Paperbacks are on Curt Flood and Willie Mays. “Senior Professional Baseball 1989-1990” is the most interesting periodical. Nm copy. There are five SABR publications: the excellent “Nineteenth Century Stars,” two “National Pastime” issues and one “Baseball Research Journal.” Enjoyable reading and learning here.
Minimum Bid $50.
