Taken in Lewiston, ME, on May 25, 1965, this photo shows Ali standing over Sonny Liston after he knocked out the former heavyweight champion at 2:12 in the first round of their match. With the victory, Ali retained the WBC, NYSAC and Ring Boxing world heavyweight titles. His autograph is a large, bold beauty, and the photo is nm-m. Ali died in 2016. Lot 369. Marvin Hart 1909 E75 American Caramel Boxing Card. Hart was the World Heavyweight Boxing Champion from July 3, 1905, to February 23, 1906. His successes included a win over Jack Johnson. Only three months later, Hart knocked out Jack Root to capture the vacant world heavyweight title.. Lot 372. Macho Man (Randy Savage) Signed 8” x 10” Color Photo and a Wrestling Magazine. Savage signed as “Macho Man.” The autograph in gold is mint 9 to gem mint 10 and PSA/DNA Pre-Certified. In his 32-year wrestling career, Savage held a world heavyweight championship six times – twice with the World Wrestling Federation (which became World Wrestling Entertainment, or WWE) and four times with World Championship Wrestling. He headlined many pay-per-view events. Savage was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2015. The organization credited him with bringing “a higher level of credibility to the (championship) title through his amazing in-ring performances.” Savage died of heart failure in 2011. Accompanying the autograph is the Oct. 1977 issue of “The Ring Wrestling,” 66 pages, vg-ex. The magazine has articles on Antonio Rocca, Billy “Superstar” Graham, Sandy Partlow and many other wrestlers.

Lot 373. 3 Photos Signed by Ron Turcotte Aboard Triple Crown Winner Secretariat. One 8" x 10" photo each from the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stakes. In 1973, Turcotte rode Secretariat to record-setting victories in these races and to horse racing’s Triple Crown. He and Secretariat were the first Triple Crown winners in 25 years. Turcotte’s autographs are gem mint 10 and PSA/DNA Pre-Certified. The Canadian jockey’s racing career ended in 1978 when he fell from a horse at Belmont Park and sustained injuries that left him a paraplegic. In 1979, he was inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame, and in 1980, into Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame.

Lot 374. Autographs - Racing Champ LeMond, Tennis Pro Wheaton, Marathoners Treacy, Spence. U.S. Bicycle Racing Champion Greg LeMond won the Tour de France in 1986, 1989 and 1990. Whether he or Davis Phinney was the first American to win the race is a matter of some dispute. He also won the Road Race World Championship in 1983 and 1989. Regarded as one of the greatest U.S. cyclists, he was inducted into the U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame in 1996. He was the first cyclist to make the cover of “Sports Illustrated.” LeMond is a strong opponent of using performance-enhancing drugs in cycling. His signatures are mint 9 on two 7.75” x 10.75” pages from unidentified magazines (possibly “Sports Illustrated”). Both pages have been laminated. Tennis Pro David Wheaton won several major tournaments in a career that spanned 1988-2001 – including the 1990 U.S. Clay Court Championship and the 1991 Grand Slam Cup in Munich, where he beat Michael Chang in straight sets. He now works as a tennis columnist and Christian broadcaster. His personalized autograph is ex-m 6 to nm 7 on a 16” x 24” vg-ex poster for Head tennis equipment. “John 14:6” accompanies his signature. John Treacy, from Ireland, won the 1992 Los Angeles Marathon, finished third in the 1988 Boston Marathon and was the Silver Medalist in the 1984 Olympics Marathon in LA. He currently is chief executive of the Irish Sports Council. Steven Spence was the Bronze Medalist in the 1991 World Championships Marathon in Tokyo and finished 12th in the 1992 Olympic Games Marathon in Barcelona. He coaches at Shippensburg University. Treacy’s autograph is gem mint 10, and Spence’s, nm 7 to nm-m 8, on a 19” x 26” ex+ poster for New Balance shoes. The athletes are pictured on their respective posters. Lot 375. Indy 500: 1970 Program, Reprint of 1911, Inserts, Patches, 1980s Media Guides & a Pin. The 1” x 1.5” pin honors Anton (Tony) Hulman, Jr. (1901-77) who purchased the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 1945, brought back the Indianapolis 500 in 1946 after a four-year interruption caused by World War II and turned it into one of racing’s most prestigious events. The pin is nm-m. Al Unser, Sr. won the 1970 race, represented by a 120-page vg-ex program featuring Speedway and 500 history, information on the current race, and photos of races, drivers, past winners, rookies and celebrities. The program, which has a water stain at the bottom throughout, is complete. A 1983 reprint of the program for the inaugural race in 1911 is ex-m+. The 84-page program contains photos and biographical sketches of the drivers, including the first winner, Ray Harroun. The media guides are for the 1983 and 1988 races, won by Tom Sneva and Rick Mears, respectively. Both guides present photos and relatively lengthy biographies of the competitors. Al Unser, Jr., eventually a two-time Indy 500 winner, is among the rookies in the 1983 guide, which has 130 pages and is ex with some soiling on the front cover. The 134-page 1988 guide is ex+ with some writing on the “Race Notes” page inside. There also are “Starting Positions” inserts for 1968, 1969 and 1970. Each eight-page publication has photos of the of the starters by row – Bobby Unser, Mario Andretti, A. J. Foyt, Al Unser, etc. Vg-ex to ex+. An 8” x 3.75” patch promotes the Speedway and the 500.
