Lot 237.  Eliot Asinof Signed Apparent First Edition of “Eight Men Out.” Asinof’s thorough account of the 1919 World Series Black Sox scandal is a baseball classic. The book served as the basis for the 1988 John Sayles film with the same title, which Asinof co-wrote. Asinof signed the flyleaf with a mint 9 to gem mint 10 autograph. Kevin Keating authenticated the signature. Asinof played minor league ball in the Phillies’ organization. He passed away in 2008. The hardback book is an ex-library copy with a g cover and vg interior and some library markings and modifications, especially inside the back cover and on the facing page. Winning Bid $35.

Lot 238.  Don Baylor Autographed Autobiography. As a player, Baylor hit at least 20 home runs in nine major league seasons. As a manager, he led the Colorado Rockies to the best initial five-year record of any major league expansion team. A stated first edition from 1989, his autobiography is titled “Don Baylor – Nothing But the Truth: A Baseball Life.” The hardback book is ex in a similar dust jacket. Baylor signed the inside of the front end-paper. His personalized signature is a gem mint 10 dated Feb. 26, 1993. Authenticated by Kevin Keating. Winning Bid $7.

Lot 239.  Author-Signed Limited First Edition - “Pictorial History of American Sports.” The authors, John Durant and Otto Bettmann, autographed the flyleaf, which points out this book is No. 35 of only 160 issued. Their autographs, authenticated by Kevin Keating, are mint 9. The flyleaf also includes a gift inscription. Subtitled “From Colonial Times to the Present,” the 280-page very limited edition hardback is profusely illustrated. An index helps to make it a useful reference. This copy is ex to ex-m, and its slipcover, g. Bettmann provided the photos for the book. He is said to have “virtually invented the image resource business.” Winning Bid $35.

Lot 240.  Signed Copy of “Fair Game,” the Columns of “Cincinnati Enquirer” Writer Paul Daugherty. The author’s signature is personalized and mint 9 on the title page. This review copy of the book is nm in an ex-m dust jacket. Daugherty covers a broad range of sports topics in these columns, which he wrote from the late 1980s through the late 1990s. Lot 241.  Dave Dravecky Autographed Copy of His Book “Comeback.” Mint 9 personalized signature on the title page of the 1999 softcover. Dravecky tells the story of his cancer surgery, his baseball comeback and the ordeals that ended his career. Ex-m book. Authenticated by Kevin Keating. Winning Bid $5.

Lot 242.  Joe Garagiola Autographed “It’s Anybody’s Ballgame.” The former major league catcher and broadcaster signed the title page. The signature is nm-m 8, personalized and authenticated by Kevin Keating. The 1988 book is ex-m in an ex dust jacket. Lot 243.  Steve Garvey Signed Stated First Edition of His Autobiography “Garvey.” The Los Angeles and San Diego first baseman placed a large, bold personalized gem mint 10 signature to “Jimmy” on the title page. Lot 244.  Two Books by Jay Johnstone, Both Autographed. Gem mint 10 signatures by Johnstone on the flyleaves of “Temporary Insanity,” 1985, and “Over the Edge,” 1987. The “Temporary Insanity” autograph is personalized. Both books are ex to ex-m hardbacks, apparent first editions, in similar dust jackets. Known for his sense of humor and clubhouse pranks, Johnstone played for nine teams in 20 major league seasons. Lot 245.  Tim McCarver Autographed Book: “Oh, Baby, I Love It!” Regarded by some critics as the best baseball broadcaster since Red Barber, McCarver offers his often humorous viewpoints on baseball and related topics. His signature on the first title page is mint 9. The personalization and “Best Wishes” were traced over by McCarver, but the autograph itself was not. Lot 248.  Bill White Signed Autobiography – “Uppity: My Untold Story about the Games People Play.” An All-Star first baseman, White also served as president of the National League. He signed the title page of the 2011 stated first edition hardback, nm in an ex-m dust jacket. The signature is personalized and nm-m 8 to mint 9. Willie Mays wrote the foreword to the book. Lot 249.  George Will Autographed Copy of His Baseball Book “Men at Work.” Recognized primarily for his political commentary, Will is one of baseball’s premier fans. In this 1990 first edition, he covers elements of baseball by examining four of the game’s best performers – Tony LaRussa as manager, Orel Hershiser as pitcher, Tony Gwynn as batter and Cal Ripken, Jr., as representative of the defense. Will’s autograph, which is personalized, is large and bold, gem mint 10, on the title page. It comes with a note from Will’s assistant, who wrote to the person who obtained the autograph, “When I put you book in front of Mr. Will’s nose, he looked at the binding and said, ‘Wow!
