Lot 715.  7 Baseball Cards Signed by 10 NY Yankees – Ford, Slaughter, Berra, Mize, Etc. Here is a list of the signers and the cards they signed: 1. Enos Slaughter, 1958 Topps #142, nm 7 autograph. 2. Bill Skowron, 1959 Topps #554, nm 7 to nm-m 8. 3-6. 1960 Topps #465, Ralph Houk, Bill Dickey, Frank Crosetti and Ed Lopat, nm 7. 7. Whitey Ford, 1961 Topps #160, ex-m 6 to nm 7, strong on a complex background. 8. Yogi Berra, 1981 Fleer #351, mint 9. 9. Johnny Mize, 1983 TCMA 50 Years of Yankee All Stars 1933-1983, nm-m 8 to mint 9. 10. Billy Martin, strong autograph, displays as ex 5 to ex-m 6 on a dark background. Autographs a five HoFers and deceased Yankees in this group.

Lot 716.  6 1988 or 1989 Pacific Baseball Legends Cards Signed by Yankees – Larsen, Turley, Etc. The autographs, authenticated by Kevin Keating, are nm-m 8 and better. From 1988, #5 Gene Woodling, 10 Phil Rizzuto, 41 Allie Reynolds, 42 Don Larsen and 52 Bob Turley. Hank Bauer signed 1989 card #144. Larsen is the only surviving member among these Yankees.

Lot 717.  20 8” x 10” Photos Signed by New York Yankees – Bouton, Richardson, Etc. Sixteen autographs are on photos showing copies of a player’s baseball cards: Luis Arroyo, Stan Bahnsen, John Blanchard, Ron Blomberg, Jim Coates, Art Ditmar, Ryne Duren, Steve Hamilton, Tom Henrich, Hector Lopez, Irv Noren, John Sain, Rollie Sheldon, Charlie Silvera, Bill Stafford and Ralph Terry. These signatures are bold, mint 9 and gem mint 10. Four others signed photos with their image: Jim Bouton, Bud Daley, Bobby Richardson and Pedro Ramos. The Daley signature is nm 7 to nm-m 8. The others are 9s and 10s.

Lot 718.  10 1996 Checks Signed by New York Yankees – Guidry, Slaughter, Etc. All of the checks are endorsed on the back with nm-m 8 and better signatures: John Hassett, Hal Reniff, Billy Gardner, Bud Daley, Joe DeMaestri, Enos Slaughter, Ron Guidry, Allen Gettel and Jerry Lumpe. Slaughter, Hassett, Reniff and Gettel are deceased. All checks were written by Alan Shapiro in 1996 on a Chemical Bank account. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 719.  32 Historic Limited Editions Z Silk Cachet First-Day Covers with Babe Ruth. All of these envelopes were postmarked in Chicago on July 6, 1983, the day the 20-cent postage stamp was first issued by the U.S. Postal Service. Each cachet has artwork depicting an aspect of Ruth’s life or career. The artwork, primarily by Joseph Catalano, depicts Ruth with both the Yankees and Red Sox and in civilian settings. This collection includes 28 different scenes. Nm-m.

Lot 720.  4 Books Babe Ruth Books – a “Smitty” Comic, Tom Meany and Lee Allen Biographies. A 1920 novel, “The ‘Home Run King’ or How Pep Pindar Won His Title,” is attributed to Ruth. This A. L. Burt Co. hardback is water stained and complete; f, no dust jacket. The biographies are: “Babe Ruth: The Big Moments of the Big Fellow,” 1951, vg-ex book and dust jacket; and Allen’s “‘Babe Ruth: His Story in Baseball,” 1966 ex-library copy with the dust jacket adhered to the book, damage to a blank page inside and some library markings. The most entertaining book may be Walter Berndt’s 1929 “Smitty at the Ball Game.” Ruth shares the cover of the 86-page hardback with “Smitty,” a popular comic strip character that Berndt drew for more than 50 years. Vg hardback with minor writing on the front cover. The scarce dust jacket is present. It is split in half along the spine and shows tape and water damage.

Lot 721.  Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig 8” x 10” B&W Photo with Facsimile Autographs. The photo, probably made in the 1940s or 1950s, appears to be a copy of a signed photo. Vg (looks better) with two pin holes at the bottom and a ¼” tear on Gehrig’s leg.

Lot 722.  10 New York Yankees Biographies – Mantle, Etc., - and a “Baseball Fantasy.” All hardbacks. The fantasy is the work of Sparky Lyle, “The Year I Owned the Yankees: A Baseball Fantasy.” Published in 1990, the book is nm-m, and the dust jacket, nm. Two books focus on Mickey Mantle: “All My Octobers: My Memories of 12 World Series When the Yankees Ruled Baseball,” 1994 stated first edition, ex-library with the dust jacket glued on. And “A Hero All His Life,” by members of Mantle’s family, 1996 stated first edition, nm-m book, nm dj. Thurman Munson’s autobiography, written with Marty Appel, is in the collection; this 1979 “Memorial Edition” is vg-ex, no dj. Three books, all published in 1980, are by or about Billy Martin: “Billy Martin,” Gene Schoor, first edition, g book, vg+ to ex dust jacket; “Damn Yankee,” Maury Allen, ex/ex; and “Number 1,” Martin with Peter Golenbock, ex-m book and price-clipped dj. The other books are “Baseball Legends: Joe DiMaggio,” Marty Appel, 1990, vg+ to ex; “Slick: My Life in and Around Baseball,” Whitey Ford, 1987 apparent first edition, nm/ex-m; “Guidry,” with Peter Golenbock, 1980, vg+ to ex/vg; and “Winfield: A Player’s Life” with Tom Parker, 1988, ex-m/ex-m.
