Lot 550.  Oakland Raiders Book Signed by Alzado, Branch, Hendricks, Plunkett, Etc. Autographs of Lyle Alzado (d. 1992), Clifford Branch, Ted Hendricks, Jim Plunkett, Tom Flores and Marcus Allen are on the first title page of “Super! The Raiders in their Finest Hour,” a 1981 stated first edition hardback edited by Murray Olderman. The signatures are mint 9 or gem mint 10. Allen and Hendricks are in the Pro Hall of Fame. The page also contains a secretarial signature of Al Davis. The book is ex, and the dust jacket, vg+ to ex. A signed “Property of Thomas Edward John” label comes with the book. Kevin Keating authenticated the autographs.

Lot 551.  5 Footballs Signed by All-Pro Yancey Thigpen, a Super Bowl XXV Pennant, Etc. Thigpen began his NFL career with San Diego but had his best seasons with Pittsburgh and then Tennessee. With the Steelers, he was an All-Pro and Pro Bowl selection at wide receiver in 1995 and 1997. He played in Super Bowls with both the Steelers and the Titans. His autographs are nm-m 8, and authenticated by Kevin Keating, each on a panel of a Carolina Panthers 1996 NFC Western Division Champions football. Why he signed a Panthers ball is unclear. The footballs are nm to nm-m, four in their original packaging. Also included are a Super Bowl XXV full-sized pennant (Giants defeat Bills) ex+; a 1990s Chicago Bears full-sized pennant (tip held on with tape) and a Bears adjustable cap ex+. From Tommy John’s collection and accompanied by two signed “Property of Thomas Edward John” labels.

Lot 552.  Kelly Stouffer Autographed Seattle Seahawks Riddell Game Helmet. Stouffer played for Seattle from 1988-92. The autograph is dark but shows breaks in various letters and an abrasion on the bottom of “ff.” The size 7 3/8 helmet is marked “Reject 1981” on the inside. It has an nm-m appearance and is without a chin strap.

Lot 595.  Rare Vintage Photo Signed by Art Buss, Michigan State and NFL Bears and Eagles. A Michigan native, Buss was a linemen for Michigan State from 1931-33. For two seasons, he played for Jim Crowley, one of the Notre Dame Four Horsemen. He then played for the Chicago Bears 1934-35 and the Philadelphia Eagles 1936-37. He died in 1998. Buss’ autograph is mint 9 on an 8” x 10” b&w photo personalized to John Smith. Buss added his position, “Left Tackle,” and his pro experience. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 596.  Conrad Dobler Signed Copy of His Book “They Call Me Dirty.” Nm-m 8 autograph on the title page of the 1988 vg+ to ex paperback. In 10 NFL seasons with St. Louis, New Orleans and Buffalo, Dobler was a three-time Pro Bowl guard who cultivated his image as a nasty, dirty player. In recent years, he has had both health and financial problems. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 597.  Tony Dungy Autographed Tampa Bay Buccaneers Full-Sized Pennant. As the Tampa Bay coach 1996-2001, Dungy built the team that won Super Bowl XXXVII with John Gruden at the helm. His Buccaneers teams made four playoff appearances and won their division in 1999. His signature is large and bold in silver against a complex background.

Lot 598.  Brian Griese Signed Denver Broncos Pennant and a 1999 Hall of Fame Game Pennant. In five seasons with the Broncos, Griese received a Super Bowl ring and was selected for the Pro Bowl in 2000. He was the starting quarterback from 1999 through 2002. His autograph is mint 9 on the Broncos pennant, which is nm+. Cleveland defeated Dallas in the 1999 Hall of Fame Game. The pennant is nm+.

Lot 599.  Lamar Hunt Signed Check Made Out to “Doak Walker Sporting Goods.” Founder and owner of the Kansas City Chiefs, Hunt is a member of three sports halls of fame – the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the National Soccer Hall of Fame and the International Tennis Hall of Fame. At various times, he promoted all three sports, and hockey and basketball as well. He was a founder of the American Football League. Hunt died in 2006. His signature is nm-m 8 to mint 9 on a 1990 check that has been vertically folded twice. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 600.  Mike Ditka, Sterling Sharpe and Jake Plummer Autographs. Ditka signed a 3” x 4.75” b&w photocopy (ex-m 6 to nm 7 signature); Sharpe, 1990 Score card #560 (nm-m 8); and Plummer, a 3.5” x 4.5” color image. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 601.  7 Dallas Cowboys Autographs Including Emmitt Smith and Harvey Martin. Authenticated by Kevin Keating, the signatures are on 8” x 10” color photos. The signers are Leon Lett, Martin on two different photos, Nate Newton, Jay Novacek, Smith and Kevin Williams. The signatures are bold, generally nm-m 8 to mint 9 or better against varying backgrounds. Martin passed away in 2000. Smith is in both the Pro and College Halls of Fame.

Lot 602.  Autographs of 3 Hall of Fame Los Angeles Rams – Fears, Olsen and Youngblood. Tom Fears signed a 4” x 6” index card and added “L.A. Rams” and “80” below. Mint 9 autograph with his photo above. Merlin Olsen’s signature is mint 9 on a 1971 Topps Poster insert. And Jack Youngblood’s autograph is large and nm 7 to nm-m 8 on 1979 mini poster.

Lot 603.  3 College HoF Autographs – Andre Ware, Gene Stallings and Steve Spurrier. Each placed a large, bold mint 9 to gem mint 10 signature on a color 8” x 10” photo. Spurrier is pictured coaching the Florida Gators during a game. Ware is shown with the Heisman Trophy he in 1989 while playing for Houston. Spurrier and Ware are in the College Hall of Fame as players, and Stallings, as a coach. In 1992, Stallings led Alabama to the first Bowl Coalition championship.

Lot 604.  Staubach, Blount, Biletnikoff, Greenwood, Reynolds, Eller and Other Autographs. Signatures of 10 football stars and veteran official Jim Tunney are on the cover of this 1990 Pro Football Legends Bowl 24-page program. The event was staged in Phoenix as a fundraiser for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation International. Joining Tunney, known as the “Dean of NFL Referees” in signing the cover, were five Hall of Fame members: Roger Staubach, Mel Blount, Fred Biletnikoff, Carl Eller and L C Greenwood. Ken Anderson, Hacksaw Reynolds, Isaac Curtis, Ben Davidson (died 2012) and Jim Kiick also signed. These autographs are nm-m 8 and stronger. Blount and Tunney also signed next to their images inside the program. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 605.  5 Baseballs Signed by 30+ Houston Oilers. An OAL Bobby Brown ball is signed by College HOFer Jack Pardee (died 2013) and famed executive Bud Adams, now the owner of the Tennessee Titans. Pardee coached the Oilers for Adams from 1990-94. Mint 9 signatures on an nm-m ball. Oilers two-time Pro Bowl selection Lamar Lathon and Tom Williams autographed an ex ONL William White ball; nm-m 8 signatures. Three other nm and better baseballs, two William White and one Bobby Brown, have 28 signatures, including Drew Hill, Chris Dishman, Eugene Seale, Jim Eddy, Frank Novak, Chris Palmer, Willie Alexander, Terry Kinard, Gregg Williams, Ted Thompson, John Schumacher, Jim Beirne, Bob Talamini, Avon Riley, Don Trull, Greg Bingham, Floyd Reese, Curly Culp, Bob Young, Patrick Allen. These autographs span the 1960s-80s. Almost all or nm-m 8 or better. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 606.  Vintage Football Collectibles Including Autographs of Buddy Parker and John Karras. Parker is one of the better NFL coaches not in the Hall of Fame. He won NFL Championships as coach of the Detroit Lions in 1952 and 1953 and made it to the championship game in 1954. In 1958, he led the Pittsburgh Steelers’ to their first winning season of the 1950s, and his team’s 9-5 record in 1962 was, at the time, the second best in the Steelers’ 30-year history; Jock Sutherland’s 1947 team was 8-4. Parker’s signature is nm 7 on 1964 Philadelphia Gum card #154. Parker died in 1982. John Karras (died 2008) signed 1953 Bowman #51; the nm-m 8 autograph is personalized. He played for the University of Illinois and the Chicago Cardinals. With the cards is a program for the 1969 Hall of Fame Game program, Atlanta vs. Green Bay, vg. The program recognizes the players inducted into the HoF that weekend – Turk Edwards, Greasy Neale, Leo Nomellini, Joe Perry and Ernie Stautner. Also, a promotional flyer for the 1970 Michigan State team. Ex-m. Joe Theismann as a Notre Dame opponent.
