Lot 314.  Circa 1910 Pre-Linen Postcard of the Polo Grounds with an Inset of John McGraw. This version of the card is titled “Polo Grounds, National League Baseball Park, New York.” It is unnumbered and lists the seating capacity of the Polo Grounds as 45,000. Vg.

Printed on very thin and somewhat brittle paper, these supplements look much better than the grades indicated: Fred Clarke, Oct. 7, 1909, horizontal strip of tape across the blank back, p. Chas. B. Lot 316.  Feb. 16, 1911 M101-2 “Sporting News” Supplement of Robert Bescher. Very nice example of this issue, which is printed on thin and slightly brittle paper. This supplement has a small crease in the lower right corner and two tears along the right edge, the largest ¼”. Technically p.

Lot 317.  2 M101-2 “Sporting News” Supplements – John B. McLean and Jake Daubert. An enterprising collector added statistics to each. The McLean premium is from Oct. 6, 1910, and Daubert, from Oct. 23, 1913. McLean has tape in the lower left corner, damage to the blank back and chips in three corners. Daubert has three partial punch holes along the left edge, a corner chip, minor back damage, and a lower right corner held in place with tape. Technically, both are poor, although their appearance is better.

Lot 318.  1911-16 T216 Kotton Thin-Paper Card of Admiral Schlei. This scarce thin-paper variety measures 1 3/8” x 2 17/32” with glue or moisture stains on the back and on primarily the borders on the front. No Schlei examples in any condition are in PSA’s population report. G.

Lot 321.  7 Different 1914 B18 Blankets Including HoFers Chance, Stengel and Wallace. These blankets feature Boone (blue infield) g; Chance (brown pennants, blue infield) g-vg; James (white infield) vg; Milan (green pennants) g; Morgan (brown pennants) g-vg; Stengel (blue infield) g-vg and Wallace (red basepaths) g. The blankets of Boone, Chance, Milan, Morgan and Wallace are sewn (separately) to a cloth backing. This condition has not been considered in the grading.

Lot 322.  Ivy Wingo 1916 Ferguson Bakery BF2 Felt Pennant. A catcher, Wingo played for the Cincinnati Reds 1915-26 and again in 1929. Ex with stains on the back that don’t affect the front.

Lot 323.  12 1920s Baseball Strip Cards – 4 HoFers – Grimes, Jennings, Johnson and Robinson. These cards are from six sets. 1926-27 W512 #7b Scott (Chicago, A.L.) vg+. 1928 W513 #76 Grantham g, 77 Moore g and 81 Harris g-vg. 1923 W515-1 #16 Grimes g-vg, 20 Mays f and 34 Jennings g. The Mays and Jennings cards are trimmed to about 1 ¼” x 2 ¼”. 1920 W516-1-2 #8 Walter Johnson p-f. This card is tightly trimmed, to about 1 3/16” x 2 5/16”. 1921 W551 Barnes f. And 1921 W9316 #1 Veach g and 3 Wilbur Robinson f and 10 Barnes p-f.
