Lot 722. 10 New York Yankees Biographies – Mantle, Etc., - and a “Baseball Fantasy.” All hardbacks. The fantasy is the work of Sparky Lyle, “The Year I Owned the Yankees: A Baseball Fantasy.” Published in 1990, the book is nm-m, and the dust jacket, nm. Two books focus on Mickey Mantle: “All My Octobers: My Memories of 12 World Series When the Yankees Ruled Baseball,” 1994 stated first edition, ex-library with the dust jacket glued on. And “A Hero All His Life,” by members of Mantle’s family, 1996 stated first edition, nm-m book, nm dj. Thurman Munson’s autobiography, written with Marty Appel, is in the collection; this 1979 “Memorial Edition” is vg-ex, no dj. Lot 729. 3 Books on Baseball in Cincinnati from 1869 to the Big Red Machine. A softcover by Greg Rhodes and John Erardi provides details on the city’s earliest professional team in “The First Boys of Summer: The 1869-1870 Cincinnati Red Stockings, Baseball’s First Professional Team.” The 1994 144-page book is extensively illustrated. Queen City baseball in the 1970s is the focus of Bob Hertzel’s 1976 book, “The Big Red Machine: The Inside Story of Baseball’s Best Team.” The hardback is nm-m, and the dust jacket, ex-m. Baseball and other sports receive coverage in “Cincinnati’s Sports Stories,” Pat Harmon, 1978, ex-library, minimal markings, vg, dust jacket glued to the book.
