Lot 300. “Vote Goldwater President 1964” Framed 11” x 17” Poster and Pinback Button. With the U.S. economy doing well, U.S. Senator Barry Goldwater of Arizona faced an uphill battle in challenging incumbent President Lyndon B. Johnson for the presidency in 1964. His strong conservative stance caused problems for him within his own Republican party. He lost in a landslide to Lyndon Johnson, carrying only six states and losing the popular vote, 61 percent to 38 percent. This nicely framed red, black and white poster, put out by the Republican National Committee, appears to be problem-free except for a small tape stain in the lower left. It is framed to 16 ¾ x 23 ¼” with a 7/8" Goldwater-Miller pin that is ex. Matted in blue, the poster and pin would be a nice addition to a political, conservative or libertarian collection. The RNC also produced a matching poster of William E. Miller, Goldwater’s running mate.
Winning Bid $45.
