Presidential and Political Autographs and Memorabilia   6 Lots

Lot 271.  President Richard Nixon Autograph and Campaign Memorabilia. Nixon defeated Hubert Humphrey in the 1968 race for U.S. President and retained the presidency in 1972 by beating George McGovern. He served until his resignation in 1974. His autograph is on an inside page of a 1958 Washington, D.C., Touchdown Club dinner program, when he was Dwight Eisenhower’s Vice President. Authenticated by Kevin Keating, the signature is nm-m 8 to mint 9. The dinner honored Dutch Bergman, a star football player at Notre Dame and coach of the 1942 Washington Redskins. The program is g-vg, primarily because of stains on the cover. The autograph, which is inside, is not affected. With the autograph are an Auravision 33 1/3 rpm record with excerpts from Nixon’s nomination acceptance speech in 1968, vg; a flyer presenting financial reasons for electing Nixon, vg; a reprint of a Walter Lippmann column titled “A Vote for Nixon,” g-vg, and a 13.5” x 19.5” “This Time, Nixon” poster with his image. The poster, by the New York State Republican Campaign Committee, has light-to-moderate water stains on the lower one-third, a light stain in the upper right and a tack hole in each of the two upper corners.
Winning Bid $168.

Lot 297.  (President) J (Jimmy) Carter Autographed OML Selig Baseball. The 39th U.S. President and Nobel Peace Prize winner placed a mint 9 signature on the mint baseball. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.
Winning Bid $102.

Lot 298.  Jimmy Carter Autographed Book, “Sharing Good Times.” Carter’s signature is gem mint 10 on a bookplate on the flyleaf of his 2004 book, an apparent first edition. The book is nm in an ex-m just jacket. It offers the former President’s insights on life, especially as they relate to family and home. Carter was the 39th U.S. President, serving from 1977-81. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.
Winning Bid $25.

Lot 299.  (President) Gerald Ford Autographed OML Selig Baseball. Gem mint 10 sweet spot autograph by the 38th President of the United States on a mint baseball. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.
Winning Bid $152.

Lot 300.  “Vote Goldwater President 1964” Framed 11” x 17” Poster and Pinback Button. With the U.S. economy doing well, U.S. Senator Barry Goldwater of Arizona faced an uphill battle in challenging incumbent President Lyndon B. Johnson for the presidency in 1964. His strong conservative stance caused problems for him within his own Republican party. He lost in a landslide to Lyndon Johnson, carrying only six states and losing the popular vote, 61 percent to 38 percent. This nicely framed red, black and white poster, put out by the Republican National Committee, appears to be problem-free except for a small tape stain in the lower left. It is framed to 16 ¾ x 23 ¼” with a 7/8" Goldwater-Miller pin that is ex. Matted in blue, the poster and pin would be a nice addition to a political, conservative or libertarian collection. The RNC also produced a matching poster of William E. Miller, Goldwater’s running mate.
Winning Bid $45.
