Baseball Programs and Ticket Stubs   11 Lots

Lot 56.  Pittsburgh Pirates 1913 Season Ticket Booklet. This booklet contains tickets for a box seat for games from Sept. 5 through Sept. 26. The 20 tickets are in strips of four. Three tickets are without a date. Tickets for games earlier in the season have been removed. Inside, the 2” x 4” booklet has a facsimile signature of Barney Dreyfuss, the Pirates’ president. Ex to ex-m, with the tickets better than the booklet covers. The Pirates finished fourth in the National League with a 78-71 record.
Winning Bid $121.

Lot 57.  Extremely Rare 1927 World Series Pittsburgh Pirates Press Ticket. The Pirates issued this ticket to Edward T Murphy, apparently the New York “Sun” sportswriter and “Baseball Magazine” columnist. The ticket was punched twice for each of the two World Series games in Pittsburgh. The Pirates lost both as the New York Yankees swept them in four games. The 3” x 4” ticket has the name of Baseball Commissioner Judge Landis printed on. The ticket has two pin holes, several light surface creases, an impression the size of a pencil point on the front and a larger impression on the back. We don’t know of another press ticket from this World Series.
Winning Bid $163.

Lot 58.  2 Ticket Stubs - Three Rivers Stadium Opening Game and Forbes Field Final Game. The ticket stubs are accompanied by an 11” x 25.5” (when opened) brochure depicting the three ball parks that served as home to the Pirates – Exhibition Park, Forbes Field and Three Rivers Stadium. Ex+. The brochure has also a photo of the 1970 Pirates. In their final appearance at Forbes Field, the Pirates defeated the Chicago Cubs twice. A June 28 rain check with two punch holes commemorates these games. Somewhat faded, the stub is free of creases. A two-part 2 ½” x 6 7/8” stub is present for the Pirates’ first game at Three Rivers Stadium on June 29. They lost to the New York Mets. Vg+ to ex.
Winning Bid $204.
