 Lot 1. Mickey Mantle Autographed OAL Bobby Brown Baseball. The signature on the sweet spot is magnificent, conservatively nm 9 to gem mint 10, and the ball is nm-m to mint. It has three tiny or very small marks on panels well away from the autograph. Mantle added his career home run total – “536 HR’s.” Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

 Lot 2. 13 1941 Play Balls: Hubbell, Ott and Ruffing, Vince and Dom DiMaggio, Vander Meer. This group of R336 cards comprises #6 Hubbell g-vg, 8 Ott g, 11 Garms f-g, 20 Ruffing p, 30 Finney g, 36 McCosky vg, 38 Donald g, 51 Camilli g, 55 Wyatt g, 56 Vander Meer vg, 61 Vince DiMaggio vg, 63 Dom DiMaggio vg and 65 Bridges g.

 Lot 3. 1934 Rochester Red Wings Photo Vintage-Signed by Johnny Mize and 16 Teammates. Rare pre-rookie autograph of Mize as “John Mize,” who made his major league debut with the St. Louis Cardinals two seasons later. Forty-five seasons after that, Mize was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. He was a 10-time All-Star in 15 seasons and was the league leader in home runs four times and in RBI three times. Mize and the 16 other Red Wings, who competed in the International League, signed on their image. The Mize autograph is ex-m 6 to nm 7 – nm 7 with a possible traceover on a tiny part of the “J.” The other autographs range from ex 5 to nm 9 and average ex-m 6 to nm 7. These autographs are by Paul Florence, Ad Liska, Ray Harrell, Estel Crabtree, Nub Kleinke, Tony Kaufmann, Johnny Michaels, Leo Toporcer, Dykes Potter, Ival Goodman, Virgil Brown, Jimmy Brown, Ben Borgmann, Bill Lewis and Lewis Whitehead. Of the signers, only Virgil Brown, Borgmann and Whitehead failed to have a turn in the majors. The photo, b&w and 5” x 9.25”, was probably trimmed from a program. A Texaco ad is on the back. The photo has clipped corners and heavy creases.

 Lot 4. 1928 “Babe Ruth’s Own Book of Baseball.” In this book published by the A. L. Burt Company, Ruth provides instructions on playing baseball. Vg+ copy with the front cover slightly loose but still attached. There is an inscription inside the back cover, and someone wrote Ruth’s name above his photo inside the front cover.

 Lot 5. 1950s Iron City Beer Plaster Advertising Figural Display. Produced by a Pittsburgh firm to call attention to the city’s home-brewed beer, this three-dimensional display is up to 14.5” wide, 10” tall and 3” from front-to-back. It shows a bartender and three patrons, apparently in the 1860s, singing as they enjoy mugs of their favorite local brew. Impressed letters at the base note that production of the beer began in 1861. Very nice example that has small chips on two shoes, on the back of the red Iron City Beer sign and in the lower left front corner. An excellent Pittsburgh and beer collectible.

 Lot 8. Joe Namath Autographed 8” x 10” Color Photo. Namath placed a large, bold gem mint 10 signature on an action photo that catches him looking for a receiver as the New York Jets’ quarterback. The photo is on a 12” x 15” plaque that contains a plate presenting highlights of Namath’s career. He was inducted into the Pro Hall of Fame in 1985.

 Lot 9. Billy Conn Autograph Authenticated by JSA and Keating on an 8” x 10” B&W Photo. Mint 9 signature on a photo showing the Hall of Fame boxer at a Ritz-Carlton Hotel. Probably best known for almost defeating Joe Louis in a 1941 heavyweight championship fight, Conn held the light heavyweight title from 1939-41. Later he starred in a movie about himself called “The Pittsburgh Kid.” This bold autograph and photo showing Conn as a young man come with a JSA Basic Cert. The photo has several creases on Conn’s image. Kevin Keating has also authenticated the signature. Conn passed away in 1993.

 Lot 10. Billie Jean King Large, Bold Autographs on a Wilson Tennis Racquet and Cover. A member of the International Tennis Hall of Fame, King remains one of the most widely recognized players in the history of the sport. She won 12 Grand Slam singles titles, including Wimbledon six times, 16 Grand Slam women’s doubles titles, and 11 Grand Slam mixed doubles titles. Above her autograph on the racquet cover, which is a 10, she wrote “Go for it!” The racquet cover houses a Wilson 4 3/8 Hammer 110 graphite matrix racquet that King signed along the side. These King signatures area nice as you’re likely to find. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.
