Lot 310.  Circa 1920s-30s Black & White 8” x 10” Portrait of a Texas Basketball Player. Nm photo on matte paper from the Westrup Studio of Corpus Christi. The photo is in a 10” x 13.5” folder with a decorative frame.

Lot 311.  Vintage Photos of Boston Celtics Hall of Fame Star Bob Cousy as a College Player. Cousy was a three-time All-American guard at Holy Cross before he launched his HoF pro career. He appears in a 5” x 7” posed photo and in a 1947 Associated Press 7” x 9” wire photo in a game against Manhattan. The larger photo captures Cousy putting up a shot that contributed two points to the Crusaders’ victory. It shows a moderate number of fine stress creases throughout in the emulsion. The other photo is ex-m.

Lot 366.  1956 AP Wire Photo of Baseball Star Frank Howard as a Ohio State Basketball Forward. In this 7” x 9” original photo, including caption, Howard “soars high for a rebound” in a tournament game against Manhattan. An All-American in basketball and baseball at Ohio State, Howard was drafted by the Philadelphia Warriors. Instead, he chose to play baseball and batted .273 for his career, twice led the A.L. in home runs with 44, belted 382 round-trippers for his career and drove in 1,119 runs. Ex-m photo.

Lot 368.  1973 Associated Press Wire Photo of Dave Winfield – Basketball Star! At the University of Minnesota, the future baseball Hall of Fame player starred in basketball and baseball. His basketball coach, Bill Musselman, called him the best rebounder he ever saw. At the end of his college career, Winfield was drafted by the San Diego Padres, the Atlanta Hawks and Utah Stars. Even though he did not play college football, the Minnesota Vikings also drafted him. After a baseball career that included a .283 batting average, 465 home runs, 3,110 hits and 1,833 RBI, he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2001.
