Lot 181.  Don Baylor Autographed Autobiography. As a player, Baylor hit at least 20 home runs in nine major league seasons. As a manager, he led the Colorado Rockies to the best initial five-year record of any major league expansion team. A stated first edition from 1989, his autobiography is titled “Don Baylor – Nothing But the Truth: A Baseball Life.” The hardback book is ex in a similar dust jacket. Baylor signed the inside of the front end-paper. His personalized signature is a gem mint 10 dated Feb. 26, 1993. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 183.  Bobby Thomson and Ralph Branca Signed “The Home Run Heard ‘Round the World.” Written by Ray Robinson, this book tells the “dramatic story of the 1951 Giants-Dodgers pennant race,” which was decided in a playoff game on Oct. 3. Branca delivered the pitch and Thomson delivered the shot that sent the New York Giants, instead of the Brooklyn Dodgers, to the 1951 World Series. Each of these key figures placed a nm-m 8 to mint 9 autograph on the first title page of the stated first edition 1991 hardback. The book is ex, and the dust jacket, ex-m. Thomson passed away in 2010. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 184.  Ralph Kiner Signed Autobiography, “Kiner’s Korner.” When Kiner retired, only Babe Ruth had belted more home runs per time at bat. He led his league or tied for the lead in home runs seven times. Among baseball’s top 10 all-time home run hitters, only Ruth (12 times) has equaled or surpassed this achievement. He was an All-Star in six of his 12 major league seasons. After his playing career ended, he broadcast New York Mets games for more than 50 seasons. Kiner’s personalized signature is mint 9 on the first title page of the book. Dated 2/24/93, it has been authenticated by Kevin Keating. The 1987 hardback, an apparent first edition, is ex-m in a similar dust jacket.

Lot 185.  Autographed Copy of “Buck Leonard: The Black Lou Gehrig.” Leonard was the star first baseman for the Homestead Grays for more than 10 years. He was enshrined at Cooperstown in 1972. In 1999, “The Sporting News” ranked him 47th among baseball’s 100 greatest players. Only four other players who spent their entire careers in the Negro Leagues made the list. Leonard’s post-stroke signature, as “Walter ‘Buck” Leonard,” is large and bold on the first title page of his 1995 book. It shows some unsteadiness and otherwise is gem mint 10. Leonard’s signature with his first name is somewhat uncommon. He died in 1997. The stated first edition hardback is ex-m in an nm dust jacket. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 186.  Marvin Miller Signed “A Whole Different Ball Game: The Sport and Business of Baseball.” From1966-83, Miller was executive director of the Major League Baseball Players Association. Under his leadership, it became a strong organization. Broadcaster Red Barber called Miller, along with Babe Ruth, “one of the two men…who changed baseball the most.” Miller provides an inside look at baseball in this 1991 apparent first edition. The hardback is ex, and the dust jacket, ex+. Studs Terkel wrote the book’s preface, and Bill James, the introduction. Miller’s signature on the title page is mint 9. He added “Executive Director, Major League Baseball Players Association – 1966-1983.” Miller died in 2012. He remains a strong Hall of Fame candidate. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 187.  Paul O’Neill Signed Book - “Me and My Dad: A Baseball Memoir.” In this 2003 hardback, the Yankee star recounts how his father helped to shape his life and baseball career. Lot 189.  “Pennant Races: Baseball at Its Best” Signed by Pulitzer Prize Winner Dave Anderson. One of baseball’s premier sports writers, Anderson was the sports columnist at the “New York Times” from 1966-2007. In 1981, he became only the second sports writer to win the Pulitzer Prize for Commentary. In this 1994 stated first edition hardback, Anderson captures the drama of 15 pennant races from 1908-93. The book and dust jacket are ex-m.

Lot 190.  Bob Edwards Signed Copy of “Fridays with Red (Barber): A Radio Friendship.” Barber was a sportscasting pioneer whose folksy style and professional manner influenced generations of broadcasters who followed. He provided baseball play-by-play for four decades, described the action for the first televised baseball game, broadcast the first night game in the majors and helped to establish the pre-game show. After retiring, he provided a weekly commentary for National Public Radio’s “Morning Edition,” which Edwards hosted. He delivered the commentary as part of a conversation with Edwards. In his 1993 book, Edwards describes the radio friendship that he and Barber developed. The book is vg+ to ex, and the dust jacket, ex. Edwards autograph on the title page is mint 9. Lot 191.  Curt Gowdy Autographed Autobiography, “Cowboy at the Mike.” Gowdy was a versatile sports broadcaster who provided play-by-play for the Boston Red Sox and American League football. He covered the Olympics and hosted a hunting and fishing show. His expertise and style earned him numerous broadcasting awards. Gowdy died in 2006. His 1966 stated first edition hardback book and the dust jacket are ex. His personalized signature is nm-m 8 to mint 9 on the title page and dated Aug. 24, 2001. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 192.  Jerome Holtzman Signed Book “Fielder’s Choice.” From 1999 until his death in 2008, Holtzman was the official historian for Major League Baseball. Called “the dean of American baseball writers,” he was one of baseball’s most influential scribes. Humorist Lewis Grizzard, who worked with Holtzman at the Chicago “Sun-Times, said “No major leaguer ever got into the Hall of Fame if Holtzman didn’t want him there.” Holtzman wrote also for the “Chicago Tribune.” He is credited with creating the “save” statistic for relief pitchers. “Fielder’s Choice” is an anthology of baseball fiction edited by Holtzman. The ex-m 1980 paperback presents stories by such writers as Ring Lardner, James Thurber, Bernard Malamud, Philip Roth and Mark Harris. Holtzman signed the title page. His signature, authenticated by Kevin Keating, is nm-m 8 to mint 9.

Lot 193.  “A Season in the Sun” First Edition Hardback Signed by Author Roger Kahn. Mint 9 title page autograph by one of baseball’s premier writers, widely recognized as the author of “The Boys of Summer.” This first edition 1977 hardback is a product of Kahn’s 1976 experiences with baseball ranging from a small-college team to a New England club and a troubled major league franchise. Ex book and dust jacket. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 335.  1994 Baseball All-Star Game Program and 2 Used Box Seat Tickets. The N.L. won this hitting-fest at Pittsburgh’s Three River Stadium in the bottom of the 10th inning, 8-7, when Tony Gwynn singled and scored on a double of Moises Alou. The program is ex. Both tickets have been punched with a star-shaped device; otherwise, they are ex.

Lot 345.  Willie Stargell Twice-Signed First Edition Autobiography. Stargell autographed the dust jacket and back of the first title page of the eponymous stated first edition hardback book, which is ex in a similar dust jacket. The signatures, authenticated by Kevin Keating, are mint 9. Stargell was enshrined at Cooperstown in 1988. He passed away in 2001.
