 Lot 221. Rare 1926 Pitt-Colgate Football Program with Sutherland, the Cathedral of Learning, Etc. Jock Sutherland, the College Hall of Fame coach, led this Pitt team to 5-2-2 record, including a 19-16 win over Colgate. Both teams are pictured in this impressive 88-page program, which is extensively illustrated. It contains images of Sutherland, the Pitt players and Hall of Fame Pitt basketball coach Doc Carlson. The Pittsburgh Pirates NHL hockey team is represented, and there are advertisements for such companies as Nash, Westinghouse, Gulf and Spalding. The program also shows an artist’s rendering of Pitt’s Cathedral of Learning; ground had been broken for the structure less than a month earlier. The cover is somewhat soiled; otherwise, the program is vg-ex.

 Lot 222. 17 Steelers Media Guides, Predominantly 1970s, a 1979 Yearbook, a Book and More! The Steelers’ 1974, 1975, 1978 and 1979 teams captured Super Bowl championships, and all four are represented in the media guides. In addition, the 1979 team is the subject of a yearbook. The media guides are for 1968, 1970-83 and 1985. There also is a guide for Super Bowl XIV played in 1980 in Pasadena. Generally, the guides are ex-m, with several grading lower, and the yearbook, which has Terry Bradshaw on the cover, is nm. Popular Pittsburgh sportswriter Jim O’Brien captures players’ stories associated with the four Super Bowls in “Doing It Right: The Steelers of Three Rivers And Four Super Bowls Share Their Secrets For Success.” This 1991 first printing hardback is ex-m in a similar price-clipped dust jacket. Two 45 rpm records, both by Freddie Waters, complete this collection. One dated 1979 has Watters’ “Steel It Steelers” on the A side; an instrumental version is on the other. Ex (visual). The other, which is undated, has “Super Steelers” on both sides. Vg-ex (visual). The Steelers’ fifth Super Bowl triumph is covered is two magazine-format publications, Street & Smith’s “Champions: 2005 Pittsburgh Steelers” and Lindy Sports’ “Super Bowl Champions.” Each of these two publications contains almost 100 pages of photos and information.

 Lot 223. 43 Football Cards Autographed by Pittsburgh Steelers. The signatures are on Topps, Pro Line, Fleer, Upper Deck, Pro Set and Score cards. With three exceptions (*), the signatures are on cards with the player’s image.  Lot 224. Jack Ham Autographed Jersey. In gold, the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Hall of Fame linebacker signed the “9” on the back of a Majestic Tackle-Tuff size large jersey. The signature is nm-m 8. At the end of the 20th century, “The Sporting News” cited Ham as the 47th best football player of all time. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

 Lot 225. Pittsburgh Steelers Jersey Signed by Bill Cowher, Bam Morris and Charles Johnson. The signatures are on the numbers on the back of a Rod Woodson jersey by LogoAthletic. Cowher left coaching for broadcasting after the 2006 season. Morris was a running back for the Steelers in 1994 and 1995, and Johnson was a wide receiver from 1994-98. The jersey is signed also by Cole Ford, who was drafted by the Steelers in 1995 as a placekicker. He failed to make the team and subsequently played for the Oakland Raiders. The signatures, authenticated by Kevin Keating, are nm 7 to nm-m 8.

 Lot 226. Greg Lloyd Autographed Jersey. In 10 seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Lloyd was selected as a linebacker for five Pro Bowls and three All-Pro teams. He was the UPI AFC Defensive Player of the Year in 1994. His signature is nm-m 8 on the “9” on the front of the Starter size 52 jersey. His name is not shown on the back of the black & white jersey.  Lot 227. Dan Rooney Autographed Pittsburgh Steelers Cap. In 2000, Rooney joined his father, Art, in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. From 1975-2002, he served as president of the Steelers. He led the effort to have the NFL implement a rule, now known as the “Rooney Rule,” that teams must interview at least one minority candidate for head coaching and general manager vacancies. From 1909-12, he served as U.S. Ambassador to Ireland. He continues to serve as chairman of the Steelers. His signature is nm-m 8 on the bill of the Steelers cap from Reebok.  Lot 228. Pittsburgh Steelers Bronze Medallions for Super Bowls IX, X and XIII. The Steelers’ victories in these Super Bowls in 1975, 1976 and 1979, respectively, are commemorated in medallions almost 2” in diameter from Liberty Mint. They were produced to raise funds for the Children’s Miracle Network. The obverse of each presents a scene related to the game, the date, location and score. For example, Terry Bradshaw, the game’s MVP, is depicted on the Super Bowl XIII medallion. Art Rooney and Chuck Noll are shown for Super Bowl IX. The reverse has the helmets of the competing teams and a representation of the Lombardi Trophy. Each medallion is mint in its original case.
