Lot 318.  Ticket Stub for 1942 World Series Game 3 – St. Louis vs. New York at Yankee Stadium. Ernie White pitched a five-hitter as the Cardinals won, 2-0, and took the lead in the series, 2-1. The Cardinals captured the world championship in five games. The stub, for a mezzanine reserved seat, is vg to vg-ex with a crease in the upper left, a small corner crease and paper loss on the back along the edge where it was separated from the rest of the ticket.

Lot 324.  1978 American League Baseball Season Pass Issued to “Lefty Gomez and Party.” The pass has a “Baseball Hall of Fame” designation in the lower left corner. Gomez entered the Hall of Fame in 1972 based on his success as a pitcher over 14 major league seasons, 13 with the New York Yankees. He died in 1989. The pass shows a quarter-sized area of paper loss on the back, which has rules for using the pass. The front, which has a MacPhail facsimile signature, is f-g.

Lot 334.  1963 Yankees and 1975 Pirates Yearbooks and 7 Other Sports Publications. The covers of the New York yearbook are detached and p; the interior is vg-ex, with stains on pages 1-2. The Pittsburgh yearbook is ex-m+. A 1972 White Sox at Yankees program is g. There are two other baseball publications: “Sports Review: Baseball” 1958 issue with Burdette on the cover, g-vg, and Street & Smith’s 1976 “Baseball Yearbook,” Lynn cover, ex-m. Two issues of “Sports Illustrated” are included: Sept. 16, 1963, articles on Bold Ruler, Koufax, Nicklaus, Palmer and Ron Mix, vg-ex; and July 8, 1968, Ted Williams cover and article, writing on cover, f-g. Football is featured in “Sports Review’s 1966 Pro Football” issue, f (some pages clipped); and Street & Smith’s 1973 “College Football Yearbook,” vg.

Lot 359.  Babe Ruth 11”x14” Limited Edition Silver Gelatin 1915 Boston Red Sox Image. This museum-quality photo, numbered 337, was hand-printed on acid-free paper from the original glass negative. Ruth won 18 games in 1915 for the Red Sox and batted .315 in the process. The season also included his first major league home run. The photo comes with its “Baseball Antiquities” certificate and is housed in its original book-like folder.

Lot 362.  1931 Photograph of Babe Ruth and Boxers Tony Canzoneri and Kid Berg. Issued by the Elliott Service Co., this composite differs from “Illustrated Current News” issues by being an actual glossy photo. Measuring 11” x 14”, it shows Ruth leaving a Boston hospital and Tony Canzoneri knocking out Jack (Kid) Berg in the third round of their April 24, 1931 bout for the lightweight and light welterweight titles. Technically vg, displays better.

Lot 365.  1946 “Illustrated Current News” Poster Featuring Babe Ruth and Joe Louis. In this 12.5” x 19” news poster, the baseball and boxing greats discuss politics with New York Gov. Thomas E. Dewey, who was preparing for his re-election campaign against challenger Sen. James M. Mead. Louis was the heavyweight champion in 1946. The poster is folded vertically and otherwise ex.

Lot 369.  Billy Martin and Vic Raschi in a 1952 World Series Original Wire Photo from UPI. In this Oct. 2 United Press 7” x 9” photo, Raschi pinches Martin’s cheek after the New York Yankees’ 7-1 victory over the Brooklyn Dodgers in Game 2. Raschi pitched a three-hitter, and Martin contributed a three-run homer. The photo has corner creases and another crease in the upper right. The images of Martin and Raschi show a couple of inconsequential creases, and the photo is sharp. The caption is included.
