Baseball Cards - Individual Cards to Sets   56 Lots    «  »

Lot 46.  1922 Eastern Exhibit Supply Co. Card of Hall of Fame Pitcher Walter Johnson. Good-looking ex card.
Winning Bid $264.

Lot 47.  2 1922 Eastern Exhibit Supply Co. HoFer Cards: Grover Alexander and Rogers Hornsby. The Alexander card has a vg front; the back shows light to moderate back damage. The Hornsby card has a pin hole at the top; otherwise ex-m.
Winning Bid $148.

Lot 48.  2 Real-Photo Postcards of St. Louis Cardinals Championship Teams – 1926 and 1928. A scarce 1926 composite photo recognizes the Cardinals as N.L. pennant winners. This team also defeated the New York Yankees in seven games in the World Series. Among the stars are manager Rogers Hornsby, Jim Bottomley, Jesse Haines, Grover Alexander, Chick Hafey and Billy Southworth. Process Photo Studios of Chicago produced the real-photo postcard. It shows three pin holes and a speck of surface loss on the “L” in “Louis”; otherwise, vg-ex. The other postcard, from Block Bros. of St. Louis, pictures the 1928 pennant winners, including Rabbit Maranville, Haines, Alexander, Hafey, Bottomley, Frank Frisch and manager Bill McKechnie. Ex postcard that shows moderate contrast.
Winning Bid $218.

Lot 49.  CORRECTED DESCRIPTION: 1930 British American Tobacco (B.A.T.) Babe Ruth Card. We originally described this Babe Ruth card as one of 25 cards in Churchman's 1929 “Sports & Games in Many Lands” set. It's actually from the B.A.T. 1930 set with the same title. The B.A.T. set, which also contains 25 cards, uses the same photo on the front as Churchman and the same description on the back. The manufacturer is not identified, a common B.A.T. practice. Price guide values and other factors indicate that the B.A.T. set is less common than its Churchman cousin. The card grades ex+.
Winning Bid $152.
