Lot 124.  1973 Awards Program Signed by 11 - Art Rooney, Madden, Greene, Sharkey, Gibson, Etc. The signatures in this multi-signed multi-sport program come with a Letter of Authenticity by James Spence. Kevin Keating also authenticated them. The program is from the 37th Annual “Post-Gazette” Dapper Dan Dinner honoring Chuck Noll as Pittsburgh’s outstanding sports figure for 1972. In pencil inside the program, Art Rooney, John Madden, Bob Gibson, Sammy Angott and Jack Sharkey signed a page devoted to autographs. All are in the Halls of Fame for their respective sports. Another Hall of Famer, Joe Greene, signed a facing page. The autograph page is signed also by Al Oliver, Bob Tolan, Joe Page, Al Abrams (a local sportswriter) and Jimmy the Greek. The Spence LoA does not mention the last two signers. The autographs are nm7 to mint 9. Rooney (d. 1988), Sharkey (d. 1994), Angott (d. 1980) and Page (d. 1980) are deceased. The program has been folded vertically. By itself, the Rooney autograph, which could be removed and matted for display, is well worth our

Lot 125.  Pro Football HoF Goal Line Art Cards Autographed by 3 Deceased Pittsburgh Steelers. The cards are signed by “Bullet Bill” Dudley, John Henry Johnson and Ernie Stautner. Kevin Keating authenticated the signatures, which are mint 9 to gem mint 10. A label on the back indicates that the Johnson card is from a limited HoF signing, #37 of 100.

Lot 126.  18 Pittsburgh Steelers Autographs Including Terry Bradshaw and Dan Rooney. Bradshaw signed a Three Rivers Stadium postcard. Rooney shares a 1980 Steelers’ first-day cover with Gerry “Moon” Mullins. Another member of the Rooney family, Art Jr., placed a personalized signature on the back of a Three Rivers Stadium postcard. Six autographs are on unlined index cards: Rudy Andabaker, Art Davis, Dale Dodrill (2), Riley Gunnels and Preston (Pearson, pers.). Three more are on business cards: Darrell Hogan, Jack McClairen and Andy Russell, who also signed the back of a stadium postcard and a 4” x 6” photo. Other signatures are by Gary Glick on two different 3.75” x 5.5” photos and Paul (Martha) on note paper. Kevin Keating authenticated the autographs, which are predominantly mint 9 with some 8s and 10s.

Lot 127.  9 Mostly Vintage Pittsburgh Steelers Photographs – 2 Autographed. Terry Hanratty autographed an 8” x 10 b&w photo from UPI, and Gary Glick, a 1955 AP wire photo. The Hanratty photo has a small spot of emulsion loss on his chin. The autographs are mint 9 and have been authenticated by Kevin Keating. Buddy Dial, Tommy Maddox and Jerry Nuzum are the subjects of 8” x 10” b&w photos. Maddox is pictured at quarterback for UCLA. The Nuzum 1951 AP wire photo also pictures Joe Hollingsworth and Steelers’ head coach Johnny Micholosen. The caption reports that Nuzum was “recently acquitted of the murder of a Las Cruces, N.M., waitress.” A 7” x 9” Wide World photo from 1961 shows Dial being tackled by Vince Costello of Cleveland. Two 5.5” x 7” photos show Steelers teams, 1972 and 1974. In addition, a more recent 8” x 10” color print shows the 1967 team. The Nuzum and Hanratty photos are vg-ex, the Dial and Glick photos ex, and the others, nm or better.

Lot 128.  Photos Signed by 11 Pittsburgh Steelers – Butler, Chandnois, Kirkland, Stautner, Etc. Several photos are from the 1940s or 1950s. The signatures, authenticated by Kevin Keating, are nm-m 8 and mint 9. New Hall of Fame member Jack Butler autographed a 5” x 7” b&w photo; his signature is personalized. Chad Brown, Andre Hastings, Levon Kirkland and Carnell Lake (pers.) placed their signatures on color 8” x 10” photos. Vintage b&w photos are signed by Lynn Chandnois (1940s Michigan State), Gary Glick (1955 AP wire photo), Terry Hanratty (1969 UPI wire photo) and Chuck Ortmann (1950 “Detroit News” photo of Ortmann at Michigan). The other b&w photos are autographed by Ernie Stautner and Ray Mathews (group photo with a printed-on Dale Dodrill signature). A handwritten note signed “Gary” accompanies the Glick photo. He writes, “My grandkids can’t believe I looked like that.” Chandnois and Stautner are deceased.
