Lot 397.  Lefty Grove Boldly Signed Gold Plaque HoF Postcard Authenticated by PSA-DNA. Slabbed by PSA-DNA, the card has a gem mint 10 autograph that is authenticated also by Kevin Keating. Grove has the highest winning percentage among winners of 300 games, and the seventh best percentage among pitchers who appeared in at least 1,000 innings. Analyst Bill James has called him “the greatest pitcher of all time, period.” From 1927-33, he won at least 20 games, including 31 in 1931. He posted the best ERA in the A.L. nine times in 17 seasons. He had three .500 season and lost more games than he won only in his inaugural year. Grove entered the Hall of Fame in 1947 and passed away in 1975. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 429.  Starter Group of 27 Different Autographed Baseball Hall of Fame Gold Plaque Postcards. This collection includes a number of more difficult signatures, including Max Carey, Jesse Haines, Harry Hooper, “Sam” Rice and Red Ruffing. The autographs are mint 9 or gem mint 10 unless otherwise noted. The 27 signers are: Al Barlick, Carey, Jocko Conlan (nm-m 8), Bob Doerr, Rick Ferrell, Haines (8-9), Hooper, Jim Catfish Hunter, George Kell, Ralph Kiner, Bob Lemon, Al Lopez, Ted Lyons (pen skipped, last name traced over), Eddie Mathews, Johnny Mize, Gaylord Perry, Pee Wee Reese, Rice, Phil Rizzuto (8-9), Edd J. Roush (8-9), Red Ruffing, Joe Sewell, Enos Slaughter, Duke Snider, Warren Spahn, Wm H (Bill) Terry and Lloyd Waner. All but two of these Hall of Fame members are deceased. Lot 430.  PSA-DNA Authenticated, Slabbed HoF Autographs: Barrow, Marquard and Rizzuto. The signature of Ed Barrow is on an irregular cut. He had a Hall of Fame career as an executive with the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees. He passed away in 1953, months after he was inducted into the HoF. The signature is strong, ex-m 6 with a better appearance. Rube Marquard and Phil Rizzuto each placed a gem mint 10 autograph on an index card; the card used by Marquard is lined. Barrow’s autograph is tough to find. Authenticated also by Kevin Keating.

Lot 431.  42 Autographed Index Cards – 14 by Hall of Fame Members. The signatures are predominantly mint 9s and gem mint 10s on unlined cards. The HoF signers are Earl Averill, Ray Dandridge, Bill Dickey, Whitey Ford, Chas. Gehringer, Lefty Gomez, Lefty Grove, Jesse Haines (note written above), Judy Johnson, Bob Lemon, Stan Musial (personalized), Phil Rizzuto, Enos Slaughter (pers., light stain on “Enos”) and Warren Spahn. All except Ford and Musial are deceased. Other key signers are Dolph Camilli, Vince DiMaggio and Sal Maglie.
