Non-Sport Autographs, Memorabilia - Mandela, Reagan   13 Lots

Lot 459.  1942 Check Signed by Comedian George Burns and Clarabelle the Cow!?!!! Bold gem mint 10 signature by the beloved comedian on the front of a check from “George N. Burns and Grace Allen Burns” dated Nov. 18, 1942. The check is made out to and signed on the back by Elvira Allman, who played “Tootsie Sagwell,” a man-hungry spinster, on Burns’ 1940s radio sitcom. She had played a similar character in a 1938 Bob Hope program. From 1928-42, she provided the voice for Clarabelle the Cow in 28 Disney cartoons; almost 50 years later, she revived the role in “The Prince and the Pauper.” In the 1950s-60s, she appeared on TV in Lucille Ball, Jack Benny and Burns. She died in 1992. In a career that spanned most of the 20th century, Burns re-invented himself several times. He succeeded in vaudeville, radio, television and the movies. He performed until shortly before his death at 100 in 1996. Vintage Burns signatures are scarce.
Minimum Bid $100.

Lot 460.  Johnny Carson Vintage Autograph Authenticated by PSA-DNA. Our consignor obtained this signature in 1962, when Carson was still hosting the daytime contest show “Who Do You Trust?” Later that year, he became the long-running host of “The Tonight Show.” Long-time Carson sidekick Ed McMahon was part of the contest show. During a break, Carson autographed a 2” x 4” section of relatively thick, stiff paper. The signature is mint 9 with some creases in the paper. PSA-DNA has certified and encased the signature. Carson retired in 1992. He passed away in 2005. Kevin Keating also authenticated the autograph.
Winning Bid $50.

Although a star football player at the University of Michigan, Ford said he wanted to be a baseball player, but “nobody would sign me.” He also said, “In baseball when they say you're out, you're out. It's the same way in politics.” Ford died in 2006. Authenticated by Kevin Keating
