Lot 182. Mickey Mantle 2006 Topps Sterling Moments Quad Card with Jersey and Bat Sections. Topps ISSUED ONLY 10 OF THESE CARDS, which contain three jersey sections and one bat section. Identified as MM-HR27, this card is #6 of the 10. It commemorates Mantle’s 27th home run, which he hit on July 25, 1952 at Briggs Stadium. Ex-m.

Lot 213. Joe DiMaggio Uncommon 1973 Bob Laughlin-Autographed Super Stand-Up. Possibly the scarcest of the Laughlin issues, these die-cut figures are infrequently offered. This stand-up of the Yankees’ Hall of Fame center fielder is printed on layered heavy paper. It stands just slightly taller than 10.25” tall and is a maximum of 7” wide. Technically vg+ to ex with a light surface crease behind DiMaggio’s left knee and very minor soiling, it has an ex-m appearance. On the back, the standee is unused. Immediately to its left is Laughlin’s autograph, which is bold with a smudge on the first “L.” Kevin Keating authenticated the autograph. Cards from this issue are rarely seen, and the Laughlin autograph makes this one a true rarity!

Lot 313. PSA Authentic 1956 World Series Ticket Stub – Mickey Mantle’s 7th W.S. Home Run. Leading off in the bottom of the seventh inning in Game 4, Mantle delivered his seventh World Series home run on an pitch from Brooklyn’s Ed Roebuck. His blast increased the Yankees’ lead to 4-1. The stub is irregularly torn. PSA graded it Authentic and included relevant information in its header related to Mantle’s home run. It displays well and represents an important moment in World Series history.

Lot 316. 1981 ALCS Game 2 Ticket Stub Signed by Yogi Berra and Authenticated by PSA. Berra was a coach for the 1981 Yankees, who defeated Oakland in Game 2, 13-3. His autograph is mint 9 on the stub, which has been judged Authentic by PSA. PSA-DNA certified Berra’s signature. The stub has a horizontal crease and, otherwise, an ex appearance.

Lot 321. 1939 Reds at Yankees World Series Program. Lou Gehrig graces the cover of the 32-page program, which is neatly scored in pencil for Game 1. The Yankees won this game and the next three in a sweep to the World Championship. Nice problem-free vg+ to ex example. Of course, Gehrig’s career had come to an end early in the season. The disease subsequently named after him claimed his life two years later.

Lot 327. Bruce Murray Sr. C. 1930 “Legends of Summer” B&W Photo – Gehrig, Foxx and Ruth. Murray was one of the most highly regarded photographers of the first half of the 20th century. Working for the “The Pubic Ledger” of Philadelphia and, later, the “Evening Bulletin,” he photographed a wide range of subjects, including sports figures. He retired in 1958 and passed away in 1969, Today, his photos are in the permanent collections of the National Baseball Hall of Fame, the Thomas Edison Museum, the Babe Ruth Museum, the Franklin Institute, the International Boxing Hall of Fame and other institutions. They also are in many private collections, including those of Reggie Jackson, Tom Hanks, Larry King and Gary Sinise. This 11” x 14” silver gelatin photo (10” x 12.75” image area) shows three of baseball’s greatest players - Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx and Babe Ruth, apparently at Shibe Park. It is embossed with “The Bruce Murray Collection.” Mint, the photo is matted in gray and framed in black to 17.75” x 21.75”. It was hand-printed directly from the original 4” x 5” negative. Numbered 801, it comes with a Murray Collection Certificate of Authenticity. It is a wonderful museum-quality image!

Lot 330. Derek Jeter ’53 Lithograph by James Fiorentino. From a 1999 Bill Goff series, this 18” x 25” print features artwork in the style of Topps’ 1953 cards. Jeter’s distinguished career includes a .314 career batting average, almost 3,000 hits, 1996 A.L. Rookie of the Year honors, 11 All-Star selections through 16 seasons, five Gold Gloves and three Silver Slugger awards. The print is signed by the artist and numbered 119 of 600. Carefully rolled, it is nm-m to mint.
