Baseball Cards and Related Memorabilia   33 Lots    «  »

Lot 196.  1934 Goudey Card National League Album. Goudey made two 12-page albums available, one for the N.L. and one for the A.L., to the person who bought the last one-cent pack in a box of high numbers or who mailed 50 wrappers to the company. The N.L. album has a blue cover, and the A.L. album comes with a magenta cover. This N.L. album has the covers intact. The front cover has a chip in the lower right corner and a 0.5” edge tear, while the back cover has a heavy crease and a 1” edge tear. Four of the eight inside pages have two-thirds of each page trimmed away, and two pages have small holes where cards were glued in and then removed. The “Casey at the Bat” poem is fully present. The interior also includes information on the origins of baseball and the All-Star Game, as well as a trivia quiz.
Winning Bid $50.

Lot 197.  1951 Bowman #165 Ted Williams. Ex.
Winning Bid $327.

Lot 198.  Rare 1951 Bowman Baseball 5-Cent Display Box. These two-piece boxes are very rarely offered. The lid or upper half of this box consists of the top and two side panels. The top displays nicely even though it has several heavy creases and a couple of small edge tears. The blank under side shows some paper loss and has a section of black paper attached. The back panel is complete, and the front panel, about 80 percent complete. The bottom displays even better, with side panels that are especially clean and bright. These panels do show some creases. The underside of the bottom declares that “These Are Your Official Baseball Cards,” provides additional information on the cards and promotes Blony Gum. There is minor paper loss from four small sections of tape apparently used to keep the box closed. This box once held 24 Bowman 5-cent packs, with six cards in each pack. It features attractive graphics of the period – almost 70 years ago – and is incredibly rare!
Winning Bid $148.
