Lot 180.  Nolan Ryan 2005 Absolute Memorabilia Tools of the Trade Signed Double-Swatch Card. This card, identified as TT-34, is #1 OF ONLY 15 MANUFACTURED by Donruss Playoff. It shows Ryan as a member of the Texas Rangers. His signature is a bold gem mint 10. The card, which contains a jersey section and a bat sections, grades nm. Kevin Keating authenticated the autograph.

Lot 337.  120+ Autographs of 30 1960 Pittsburgh Pirates Including Maz, Groat, Law, Mejias, Etc. These signatures are on photos, cards, index cards and other media. Three autographs of Bill Mazeroski are included, and one of Ramon Mejias, whose signature turns up infrequently. The autographs are overwhelmingly mint 9s and gem mint 10s. Throughout, we have listed last names only; first names also are signed. There are no more than three personalizations. All of the autographs are on different items; there are no duplicates. Twenty seven of the autographs are on 8” x 10” photos, color unless otherwise noted: Face (b&w), Friend (4, one b&w), Gibbon (b&w), Green (2, b&w), Groat, Law (4, two b&w showing a very young Vernon), Mazeroski (2, one b&w), Narron (b&w), Nelson, Oldis (b&w), Schofield (2, one b&w), Skinner (b&w), Stuart, Virdon and Witt. There also is a b&w photo signed by Face, Haddix and Mazeroski. Twenty-three signatures are on index cards, almost all unlined, with a few cuts: Barone, Bright, Christopher, Daniels, Face, Friend, Giel, Groat, Haddix, Kravitz, Law, Mejias, Mizell, Narron, Oldis, Schofield, Skinner, Smith, Trucks, Vernon, Virdon, Whitt. Team Issues, all different, are signed by Face, Friend (2), Groat (2), Law (3), Skinner and Virdon (2). Groat signed two magazine covers, the Aug. 8, 1960 “Sports Illustrated” and the May 1961 “Sport.” Finally there are autographs of Groat, Daniels, Law, Friend (2), Skinner, Smith, Face and Smith on various media. In addition, Maz autographed a “Beat ‘Em Bucs” envelope with the World Series line score for each game. The 30 players represented are Baker, Barone, Bright, Burgess, Christopher, Cimoli, Daniels, Face, Friend, Gibbon, Giel, Green, Groat, Haddix, Kravitz, Law, Mazeroski, Mejias, Mizell, Narron, Nelson, Oldis, Schofield, Skinner, Smith, Stuart, Trucks, Vernon, Virdon and Witt. Great collection for a Pirates fan, and it has excellent break-up potential for a dealer!

Lot 340.  16 Photos Signed by Yankees – Mel Allen, Bouton, Colavito, McDougald, Turley, Etc. Mint 9 or gem mint 10 autographs authenticated by Kevin Keating on 8” x 10” b&w photos unless otherwise noted: Mel Allen (color), Jim Bouton, Rocky Colavito (shown as a Yankees’ pitcher), Al Downing (personalized), Charlie Keller (sepia), Ed Lopat (color), Hector Lopez (pers.), Jerry Lumpe, Mickey McDermott, Gil McDougald, Irv Noren, Eddie Robinson, Bobby Shantz (color), Charlie Silvera, Shane Spencer (color), and Bullet Bob Turley with ”8-31-58,” the date he scored his 20th win that season. Allen, Keller, Lopat, McDermott, McDougald and Robinson are deceased. This is a great Yankees group with strong potential break-up value.

Lot 341.  Baseballs Signed by Yankees Ford (2), One as “Chairman of the Board”, Gossage, Terry. Because of his ability to remain calm and focused under pressure, Ford earned the appellation “Chairman of the Board.” Reportedly, he has sometimes declined to add this notation when signing. He didn’t refuse for our consignor, however. The addition is below his autograph on the sweet spot of a mint OML Selig baseball. Ford’s signature, without any notation, is on another mint Selig ball as well. Goose Gossage signed a mint Selig ball and added “HOF 2008.” Ralph Terry’s autograph is on the sweet spot of a mint ONL William White ball. He wrote “62 W.S. MVP” below the autograph and “NYY 56-57 59-64 All Star ‘67” on the south panel. Kevin Keating authenticated the signatures, which are gem mint 10.

Lot 342.  5 OML Baseballs Signed by Yankees with Additions – Skowron, Rivers, Peterson, Etc. Mint baseballs signed on the sweet spots with mint 9 or gem mint 10 signatures unless otherwise noted. The baseballs signed by Blanchard and Peterson have the New York Yankees logo in place of the MLB logo: Moose Skowron, “1961 World Champs” added below his signature on the SS and “1961 Mantle, Maris & Moose 143 HR’s” on the south panel. Oscar Gamble, “200 HR, 660 RBI, 1195 Hits” on the west panel. Mickey Rivers, “77 & 78 W.S. ‘Champs’,” on the SS and “267 S.B., 1660 Hits, 295 B.A. and 1976 All Star” on the south panel. Johnny Blanchard, “1961-World Series Champs” on the SS and “4 Straight H.R. July 21-22 1961” on the west panel. And Fritz Peterson, all on the north panel, “Starting pitcher for NY Yankees in last game at ‘the house that Ruth built’, Fritz Peterson 9/30/73.” Peterson started the final game played in the original Yankee Stadium. His signature and additions are nm-m 8. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 343.  17 Yankees Autographs – Berra, Skowron, Richardson, Jeter, Niekro and 9 Whitey Ford. These signatures, which are mint 9s and gem mint 10 unless otherwise noted, are on various media and authenticated by Kevin Keating: Yogi Berra on a gold plaque Hall of Fame postcard. Jim Coates, Bobby Richardson and Bill Moose Skowron on color 8” x 10” photos, and Ralph Terry on a b&w photo. Phil Niekro on an unlined index card matted to 13” x 17” with an 8” x 10” color photo. Ralph G. Houk on a 1964 letter on Yankees’ letterhead signed as general manager. And Derek Jeter on 1992 Classic Draft Picks card #6; the signature is ex 5. Ford signed a gold plaque HoF postcard, a 1989 Ted Williams postcard with Ford’s image, an unlined index card and a second unlined card matted to 13” x 17” with an 8” x 10” color photo. He also autographed a 6.5” x 9.5” photo and four different 8” x 10” photos, including one showing him with four Negro Leagues players, who also signed. The other signers include Don Johnson, Hank Presswood and Sonny Weston. Three photos show Ford with other Yankees; one pictures DiMaggio, another Mantle and the third, Berra.

The signatures are by Hank Bauer, John Blanchard, Clete Boyer (b&w photo), Bob Cerv (b&w), Jim Coates, Joe DeMaestri, Art Ditmar, Ryne Duren (b&w), Ralph Houk (b&w), Tony Kubek (b&w), Don Larsen, Hector Lopez, Jim McDonald (b&w), Gil McDougald, Bobby Richardson, Moose Skowron, Ralph Terry, Virgil Trucks (b&w), Bob Turley (b&w) and Gene Woodling. Each photo has a strong signature, a mint 9 or gem mint 10, without any personalization. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 349.  10 Photos Autographed by 1950s Brooklyn Dodgers – Reese, Snider, Bessent, Etc. Unless otherwise noted, the signatures are on 8” x 10” color photos. Bessent, who helped the Dodgers win their only World Championship, is a relatively scarce autograph. He went 8-1 in 1955 with a 2.70 ERA and pitched 3.1 scoreless innings in the World Series. He passed away in 1990. Besides Bessent, five other signers were members of the 1955 World Championship team: Clem Labine, Don Newcombe, Johnny Podres, Pee Wee Reese and Duke Snider. The other signers are Gino Cimoli, Al Gionfriddo, Rocky Nelson, all on b&w photos, and Andy Pafko. The autographs are 10s. Gionfriddo, Labine, Nelson, Podres and Reese are also deceased. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 362.  Hank Aaron Autographed “Sports Illustrated” 715th Home Run Issue. Facing Al Downing on April 8, 1974, Aaron hit his 715th home run to break Babe Ruth’s career record. “SI” captured the event with the cover of its April 15 issue and in an article inside titled “End of the Glorious Ordeal.” Aaron’s signature is mint 9 to gem mint 10, and the issue is nm. Kevin Keating authenticated the autograph. This is an outstanding collectible marking the brilliant career of the major league’s true home run king!

Lot 364.  Sadaharu Oh Autographed Aug. 15, 1977 “Sports Illustrated.” Playing in his native Japan, Oh established the international record for home runs with 868. His autograph is a large, bold unimprovable gem mint 10. The “SI” issue is ex-m+ without a label. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 376.  PSA-Graded Nolan Ryan Gem Mint 10 Autograph on a Gem Mint 10 OML Selig Baseball. It doesn’t get any better than this! PSA-DNA graded and encapsulated this beauty! The signature is on the sweet spot. A PSA-DNA Letter of Grading and Authenticity is included.

Lot 377.  Hank Aaron PSA-Graded Mint 9 Autograph on a Mint 9 Selig Baseball. A large, bold Aaron signature sweeps across the sweet spot of the ball, which has been encapsulated by PSA-DNA. The primary imperfection in the ball seems to be a stray ink mark on the south panel. PSA-DNA has provided a certificate of authenticity.

Lot 378.  Willie Mays PSA-Graded Gem Mint 10 Autograph on a Mint 9 OML Selig Baseball. The ball has a minor mark on the west panel well away from the signature, which is bold, crisp and clear on the sweet spot. We haven’t seen a better example of Mays’ autograph on a baseball. Encapsulated by PSA-DNA, the signature and ball received an overall grade of 9.5. A PSA-DNA Certificate of Authenticity is included.

Lot 379.  Cal Ripken, Jr. PSA-Graded Gem Mint 10 Autograph on a Mint 9 OML Selig Baseball. Bold sweet spot signature on a ball that seems to have no obvious imperfections. A PSA-DNA Certificate of Authenticity is provided.

Lot 380.  International Home Run Kings: Baseball Signed by Sadaharu Oh and Hank Aaron. Both stars have signed the sweet spot of this nm-m OAL Bobby Brown (Haiti) ball. Oh has signed in both Japanese and English, placing his Japanese script on the north panel. Authenticated by Kevin Keating. The signatures are 10 of 10, making this a gorgeous gem – the first one we have offered!
