Lot 150.  Ted Double Duty Radcliffe Autographed Biography. Radcliffe is one of the best Negro Leaguers not in the Hall of Fame. In a playing career that began in 1928 and ended in the early 1950s, he may have recorded as many as 4,000 hits, 400 home run, 500 wins and 4,000 strikeouts. Statistics are sketchy and incomplete. He made six All-Star teams in the Negro Leagues. In 11 games against major leaguers for which there are statistics, he batted .389. In a 1952 poll of Negro Leagues experts by the Pittsburgh Courier, He wound up fifth all-time among catchers in the Negro Leagues, and seventeenth among pitchers. The 1995 book, in paperback form, is “Ted ‘Double Duty’ Radcliffe” by Kyle P. McNary, ex+. Radcliffe autographed the title page; the signature is a 10. He passed away in 2005. Lot 151.  3 Baseball Novels, 2 Signed by the Authors – Roger Angell and Pat Jordan. Angell autographed “Late Innings,” and Jordan, “A False Spring.” Angell’s signature is a personalized (to Jim) mint 9 on the second inside page, and Jordan’s a personalized 10 on the front end-page. “Late Innings,” from 1982, is ex-m in a similar dust jacket, and “A False Spring,” from 1975, nm/ex. The other book is “Shoeless Joe” by W. P. Kinsella, 1982, ex-m+/ex. All are hardbacks. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 152.  Roger Angell Signed Copies of “Five Seasons” and “The Summer Game.” Sometimes called the “Poet Laureate of Baseball,” Angell signed the second inside page of each book. The autographs are gem mint 10s. The signature in “Five Seasons” is personalized to Ron Gabriel. The book is nm, and the dust jacket, ex-m. “The Summer Game” is ex in a similar dust jacket. Lot 153.  Lou Boudreau (HoF) Autographed Copy of His Autobiography. The Hall of Fame shortstop, who also was a highly successful manager and broadcaster, signed the second blank page of “Lou Boudreau: Covering All the Bases.” Boudreau wrote the 1993 book with Russell Schneider. His signature is mint 9, and the book, an apparent first edition, nm with on slightly stubbed corner in an ex-m+ dust jacket. In 1948, Boudreau was the A.L. MVP as he batted .355 and, at the same time, managed the Cleveland Indians to a World Championship. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 154.  “Caught Short” Signed by the Author and Baseball Executive Don Davidson. Only four feet tall, Davidson spent more than 40 years in professional baseball, beginning in 1939 as a batboy for the Boston Braves and Red Sox. In 1948, he joined the Braves’ public relations department. In 1976, he became public relations director for Houston and also served as the club’s traveling secretary and as administrative assistant to the president. Davidson recounts his career in this 1972 hardback, which is ex in a similar dust jacket. He signed the first title page. The signature is a 10, personalized to Marian, whose bookplate is on the flyleaf. Davidson passed away in 1990. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 155.  Scarce Copy of Nellie Fox’s Biography with Signatures of the Authors and Mrs. Fox. This self-published 2000 softcover is difficult to find. Titled “Little Nel: The Nellie Fox Story,” it was written by David Gough and Jim Bard and has a foreword by Joanne Fox, Nellie’s widow. Both Gough and Bard are members of the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR). They signed a letter asking a writer to review the book. Mrs. Fox signed the foreword. The 326-page book, which is decently illustrated with photos, has creases in the upper corners. Otherwise, the book is clean and desirable because of its scarcity and the autographs. Lot 156.  Bob Gibson Autographed Biography “From Ghetto to Glory: The Story of Bob Gibson.” The Hall of Fame hurler signed the flyleaf; the signature is gem mint 10. The 1968 book is ex in a vg dust jacket. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 157.  Whitey Herzog (HoF) Autographed Copy of “You’re Missin’ a Great Game.” Herzog, who led the St. Louis Cardinals to the World Championship in 1982 and to two other World Series appearances, signed the first page of a title-page spread. His signature is a gem mint 10. The 1999 hardback book, an apparent first edition from Simon & Schuster, is nm-m in an nm dust jacket. Herzog was inducted into the Hall of Fame last year. Lot 159.  Jim Palmer and Earl Weaver Signed Copy of “Palmer and Weaver.” The Hall of Fame Orioles pitcher and his HoF manager placed bold gem mint 10 signatures on the first title page of Palmer’s 1996 hardback book, nm-m in an ex-m+ dust jacket. Palmer subtitled the book: “Together We Were Eleven Foot Nine.” Copies signed by both seem to be scarce. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 160.  Jimmy Piersall Signed 1992 Comic Book from Dark Horse Comics. Large nm-m 8 to mint 9 autograph on the ocver of “Baseball Greats: The Jimmy Piersall Story.” Nm comic with intact cards of Piersall inside. Piersall’s battle was mental illness was recorded in the book “Fear Strikes Out.” Casey Stengel called him the “best defensive right fielder I have ever seen.” When he was finished playing baseball, he served as a broadcaster for the White Sox and Rangers. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 161.  “The Hidden Game of Baseball” Signed by the Authors, John Thorn and Pete Palmer. Thorn and Palmer autographed the title page of this groundbreaking book, subtitled “A Revolutionary Approach to Baseball and Its Statistics.” Their signatures are 10 of 10. The 1984 hardback book is a stated first edition published by Doubleday, ex+ book and dust jacket. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.
