Lot 269.  Mike Greenwell Professional Model Louisville Slugger P89 Mid-1980s Bat. Greenwell patrolled the outfield for 12 seasons for the Boston Red Sox, from 1985-9. He batted .303 for his career and was a two-time All-Star. The 34” bat is hollowed out on the end, has a light crack on the handle and shows other evidence of game use.
Winning Bid $20.

Lot 270.  Lee May Professional Model Hillerich & Bradsby R161 1977-79 Bat. The 35” bat shows good use and has a vg-ex appearance. A section of wood is missing from the back of the barrel. May’s career began in Cincinnati in 1965 and continued in Houston in 1972 and Baltimore in 1975. His final two seasons were in Kansas City in 1981 and 1982. In 18 seasons, he was a three-time All-Star, hit 354 home runs and drove in 1,244 runs.
Winning Bid $20.

Lot 271.  Andre Thornton Mid-1980s Game-Used K75 Louisville Slugger 37” Bat. Thornton’s uniform number, 29, is on the knob, along with “K75.” The bat has a cracked handle, which appears to have undergone a minor repair, and shows good game use. Thornton was a two-time All-Star first baseman-designated hitter who batted .254 lifetime with 253 home runs and 895 RBI. He wore #29 with the Cleveland Indians from 1977-87. In his 11 seasons with the Indians, he led the team in home runs seven times.
Winning Bid $30.

Lot 272.  Steve Yeager Professional Model Louisville Slugger T141 Mid-1980s Bat. Yeager spent his entire career, from 1972-86, with the Los Angeles Dodgers. His No. 7 is on the knob of the bat, which has a small crack and chip on the handle and shows rack marks and limited use.
Winning Bid $20.

Lot 273.  4 Store Model Bats: Roberto Clemente, Dave Parker, Tony Oliva and Ray Fosse. The Clemente bat is a 29” H&B LL396 “Leaguer” model, ex. The Parker Louisville Slugger bat is a 1980-83 O16 “Flame Tempered” 34” model, nm-m. The other endorsed bats, both from Hillerich & Bradsby, are by Tony Oliva, 29” Little League model, vg, and Ray Fosse, 33”, “Flame Tempered,” cracked handle, vg-ex. Writing on the Fosse bat suggests that it was used in a 1973 game, but there is no provenance or anything else to support this notion.
Winning Bid $25.

Lot 274.  Jim Gantner and Jim Olander Pro Model and Gorman Thomas Store Model Bats. All three bats appear to be from the players’ days with the Milwaukee Brewers. Gantner was the Brewers’ starting second basemen for most of his 17 years in Milwaukee. His T141 model 35” bat, apparently from 1985, has a cracked handle. His uniform number, 17, is on the knob and the hollowed-out end of the bat, which has strong stampings and shows good game use. An outfielder, Olander played a total of 12 games in the majors, all for the Brewers in 1991. His M110 model 34” bat has his name in block letters and may be from the mid to late-1980s. Tape on the handle seems to cover a crack. The 35” model O16 from 1980-83 is a “Flame Tempered” store model version. Ex. Two game-used and one store model bat.
Minimum Bid $20.

Lot 275.  4 Texas Rangers Pro Model Bats – Porter, O’Brien, Fletcher and Harrah. Also, a Jeff Burroughs store model bat. These bats seem to be from years in which the five players took the field for the Rangers. Here are the particulars: Darrell Porter, 34” P72 model, his #17 on the knob, pine tar on the handle, end hollowed out, wear on Porter’s foil facsimile, some dead wood on the barrel, 1986-89. Toby Harrah, 34” C243 model, dark brown, cracked handle, substantial use, 1985. Pete O’Brien, 34” S2 model, his #9 on the knob, ball marks, 3.5” x 1” section of wood out of the back of the barrel, 1980-83. Scott Fletcher, 34” S238 model, his #1 on the knob, tape on the handle, which has a minor crack, rack marks, light use, 1980-83. Jeff Burroughs: Store model, 33”, O16, tape on the handle, moderate to heavy wear on the logo, some dead wood, probably 1970s.
Winning Bid $75.

Lot 276.  6 Adirondack 1950s Store Model Bats: Doby, Hodges, Crandall, Boone, Fondy, Etc. Three bats are from 1951-57: Ray “Ike” Boone, 302 model with “84D” on the knob, 34”, tape on the handle, light crack, vg+ to ex. Gil Hodges, 30.5”, tape on the handle, lettering virtually unreadable, p-f. Dee Fondy, 33”, black bat, model 302, “732” on the knob, cracked, f-g. The three others are from 1958-60: Hal Smith, 34”, model 222, ex, strong stampings, nice bat. Larry Doby, 30”, model 300J, two-tone, vg. And Del Crandall, 34”, model 212, tape on the handle, strong lettering, g-vg.
Minimum Bid $20.

Lot 277.  4 Bats: Johnny Bench, Fred Lynn, John Mayberry and Carl Yastrzemski. The Bench, Lynn and Mayberry bats, all from Hillerich & Bradsby, are vg-ex. They show good use; the lettering is fully present. The 36” Bench bat, from 1965-68, is a store model. The handle is cracked. The Lynn and Mayberry bats, from the mid to late-1970s, have professional model numbers on the barrel. The 34” Lynn bat is an M110 model, and the 32” Mayberry bat, K44. Neither has clear indications of professional use. The Yastrzemski bat is a 34” Wilson A1300 model, vg.
Winning Bid $20.

Lot 278.  4 Store Model Bats: Steve Garvey, Keith Hernandez, Graig Nettles, Ted Williams. The Garvey bat is a 33” Hillerich & Bradsby 1969-72 model 125, cracked handle, vg-ex. The Hernandez and Nettles bats are 1980s Louisville Sluggers. The 34” Hernandez bat is model BB797, and the Nettles bat, model BB997. Both are vg-ex. The Williams-endorsed bat is a 31” Sears Ted Williams 1725 Little League model with tape on the handle. Vg-ex.
Minimum Bid $20.

Lot 279.  3 Professional Model Bats Used by One-Time Phillies and 2 Other Bats. 1. Fred “Smokey” Andrews, two-tone late 1977 Hillerich & Bradsby B267 model, 34”, his #16 on the knob, section of wood missing from the back of the barrel, ex appearance. Andrews’ major league career consisted of 16 games for the Phils in 1976 and 1977. 2. Phillies P89 bat, 34”, cracked handle repaired with a nail, otherwise vg+ to ex, apparently from the mid to late-1980s. The bat has #23 on the knob and has been attributed to Von Hayes. However, Hayes never wore No. 23. During the period the bat seems to represent, the number was worn by Joe Lefebvre and Randy Ready. 3. Phillies R161 bat, 34”, dark brown, mid to late-1980s, ex. 4. Phil Bradley model from Worth, 33” Tennessee Thumper, black, tape on handle, chip on the end where it is hollowed out, otherwise ex. 5. Garry Maddox Hillerich & Bradsby store model, 33”, f-g.
Minimum Bid $25.

Lot 280.  Pedro Guerrero and Brian Downing Endorsed Bats and a Scarce Jim Napier Bat. The early 1960s 34” Hillerich & Bradsby Napier bat is especially scarce and obscure. He spent his entire career, which spanned 1958-86, in the minors as a catcher and manager, primarily in the Chicago White Sox organization. He coached in the minors also for the Cubs and the Indians. The bat has a cracked handle and strong engravings. The 35” Brian Downing model from Worth has a badly cracked handle. Louisville Slugger manufactured the 34” early 1980s Guerrero bat, which has his name on the barrel, as well as “Braves,” and “Wills” written on the knob. Cracked, strong engravings.
Minimum Bid $15.

Lot 281.  New York Mets and Shaker Moseby Professional Model Bats, Mike Heath Bat. Louisville Slugger manufactured all three bats. The 35” Mets K55 bat has “Hollins” printed in sharpie on the knob. Dave Hollins was a major leaguer from 1990-2002, but never played a regular-season game for the Mets. The bat has tape on the handle and part of the “New York Mets” lettering is worn away. The Moseby bat is a 34” P72 model that has his uniform number on the knob. The handle is extensively cracked, and the bat otherwise shows good use. The 34” Heath S2 bat has tape on the handle and grades g-vg.
Minimum Bid $15.

Lot 282.  3 Baseball Bats: Spalding Converse Athletic Shoes, Orioles LL, H&B Infield Fungo. The oldest of the bats, apparently from the 1920s, is a Spalding League 33.5” example that promotes Converse Athletic Shoes. The engravings remain decent. The bat handle has been repaired with nails, and the back of the barrel shows some dead wood. The Hillerich & Bradsby 34” Model 43 “Infield Fungo” bat dates from the 1960s; vg+ to ex. The 29” Baltimore Orioles Little League bat from Hillerich & Bradsby is g-vg.
Minimum Bid $20.
