Lot 118.  Casey Stengel Autograph on an Unlined Index Card. Large bold dark signature in which Stengel retraced the “s” in Casey and added “Hall of Famer” below the signature. Stengel was enshrined at Cooperstown in 1966 and passed away in 1975. Autograph authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 132.  “Bronx Memories” Print Signed by Guidry, Nettles, White, Slaughter, Sain, Shantz, Blomberg. The 16” x 20” print was signed at the 1993 Hall of Fame induction weekend at Cooperstown. It contains the mint 9 or gem mint 10 autographs of Ron Guidry (“Cy Young 78”), Graig Nettles (“77-78 W.S. Champs”), Roy White (“1977-78 WS Champs”), Ron Blomberg (“1st D.H. 4/6/73”), Johnny Sain (“4 x 20 Game Winner”), Enos Slaughter (“HOF 85”) and Bobby Shantz (“1952 A.L. M.V.P.”). The print has edge creases; the image area is nm-m. Autographs authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 181.  Mickey Mantle Restaurant Menu. The four-panel menu, 10 ½” x 16” unopened, has an outstanding image of Mantle on the front cover. Inside and on the back cover are photos of Mantle with his family, Maris (2), Martin and DiMaggio, as well as Stengel, Rizzuto and DiMaggio, and Ruth. Vg-ex.

Lot 182.  Mrs. Babe Ruth Autograph. Ruth’s second wife, Claire, signed a 1969 Centennial of Baseball first day cover that has the Babe’s image as “Mrs. Babe Ruth.” She and Ruth were married from 1929 until his death in 1948. She passed away in 1976. The signature is a 10. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 184.  Lou Gehrig 1994 Watch from Waltham. Unused watch mint and unused in the original wood box. It has a b&w photo image of Gehrig on the face with a facsimile autograph and another facsimile signature on the leather band. The watch apparently needs a battery to work.

Lot 185.  16 New York Yankees Collectibles – Primarily Die-Cast Cars and Trucks. One of key items in this collection is a 2003 NASCAR New York Yankees car, No. 44 driven by Christian Fittipaldi. The 1:24 scale model car from Action Performance Companies marks the Yankees’ 100th anniversary. The 2003 Dodge is mint in the original packaging. Four other items commemorate the Yankees’ 100th anniversary, a 4”-5” cloth patch, mint and unopened, two 1” pins from “Old Timers’ Day,” July 19, 2003, nm-m on the original card, and a 1 /4” pin, mint. The other die-cast vehicles are from: White Rose, 1998 World Series Champions Kenworth 18-wheeler, 1999 World Series Champions Ford Aeromax low-bed trailer, 2000 World Series Champions 3-Peat tractor-trailer, 2000 World Series Subway Series – Yankees vs. Mets, Ford Aeromax tractor-trailer, and a 2001 Yankees PT Cruiser. Matchbox, 1996 World Series Champions Kenworth low-bed trailer. Fleer, 2003 Hummer H2. These vehicles average nm-m without the original boxes. Also: A # 1 NY FAN license plate, unused and mint, a plastic cup from 2000, a Roger Clemens 2002 figurine from TMP International, nm, and a 4” cloth patch marking Clemens 300th win in 2003. Lot 198.  Collection of 21 Newspapers and a Magazine Focusing on Mantle, the Yankees, Bonds, Etc. The newspapers are complete unless otherwise noted. Five newspapers and the Aug. 28, 1995 issue of People magazine (nm) cover the life and death of Mickey Mantle. The 1995 newspapers are the Aug. 14 South Florida Sun-Sentinel, the Aug. 15 New York Daily News and New York Post, the Aug. 22 Baseball Weekly and the Aug. 21 Sporting News. The New York tabloids are vg to vg-ex, and the others, ex to ex-m. Baseball Weekly covers the passing of Joe DiMaggio, including a cover photo, in its March 10-16, 1999 edition, ex+. The New York Yankees are the front-page subjects of four more tabloids, including the earliest newspaper in the group, the Oct. 17, 1947 NY Daily Mirror. The paper heralds the Yankees’ triumph over the Dodgers in the World Series and has a photo of DiMaggio, team president Larry MacPhail and star relief pitcher Joe Page. The newspaper has a 2” edge tear that affects neither the photo nor the headline; otherwise, ex. The three others papers are Oct. 25-30 editions of the New York Post, two dealing with the Roger Clemens-Mike Piazza confrontation and the other celebrating the Yanks’ World Series title. Ex-m. Another early newspaper, the Oct. 2, 1950 edition of The Evening Bulletin of Philadelphia, features a front-page article on the Whiz Kids, who had just captured the N.L. pennant. Complete paper (vg) with extensive coverage in the sports section (ex). Seven papers have front-page coverage of the quest for home run records: Sept. 9, 1998, St. Louis Post-Dispatch, McGwire’s 62nd home run. The Stuart (FL) News, Sept. 9, 1998 (McGwire’s 62nd), Oct. 5 and 6, 2001 (Bonds’ 70th through 72nd home runs), and Aug. 8, 2007 (Bonds’ 756th). Baseball Weekly, Sept. 9-15 and Sept. 30-Oct. 6, 1998, McGwire. And Newsday, Aug. 5, 2007, Rodriguez. These papers average ex. Finally, the Oct. 29, 2007 Denver Post features World Series coverage, and the March 18, 2008, Stuart News shows Tommy Lasorda at the Dodgers final spring training game at Homan Stadium. Ex-m.
