Lot 169. 1888 N162 Goodwin Champions Card of Billiards Hall of Famer Jacob Schaefer, Jr. Vg card with some surface scuffs on the front and back and a very small chip in the upper right. Nicknamed “the Wizard,” Schaefer was such a dominating balkline player that revised versions of the game were created in the hope that others could compete against him more successfully. It didn’t work. In 1908, while gravely ill, he defeated Willie Hoppe for the World Balkline Championship. He died in 1910.
