 Lot 180. 7 1966 Pittsburgh Pirates Wire Photos Featuring Stargell, Alley and Others. These Type 1 photos, printed on 8” x 10” glossy photo stock with the caption below, average ex, and several are ex-m or better. In one photo, Willie Stargell slides into second base. Shortstop Gene Alley is in three photos, one a full-length portrait, one with Dick Groat (Phillies) sliding into him and one with Mac Jones (Braves) also in the photo. Action photos show Donn Clendenon and Joe Torre, and Jim Pagliaroni and Jesus Alou. Another photo captures Pirates manager Harry Walker with a torn shirt, ripped as he was restrained from fighting with Mets pitcher and former Pirate Bob Friend.

 Lot 181. 5 1966 New York Mets Wire Photos Including Ken Boyer and Dick Stuart. Three of these Associated Press Type 1 wire photos are 7” x 9”, and two are 8” x 10”. They average vg-ex, showing some creasing where the captions are attached. All are action shots. In a smaller photo, Jerry Buchek of St. Louis is caught in a rundown between Boyer and Choo Choo Coleman. In the larger photos, Stuart steps on the arm of LA’s Willie Davis in a play at first base. One photo provides three images of the play, and the other is a close-up. In the two other 8” x 9” photos, Ron Hunt slides into a base. Orlando Cepeda is in one of the photos, and Charlie Smith, both of the Cardinals, is in the other.

 Lot 182. 20 AP 1966 Wire Photos Featuring Killebrew, Rose, Maris, Skowron, Etc. All of these Type 1 glossy photos capture players sliding into bases. Eighteen are 8” x 10” with the caption printed below or next to the photo. Two are 7” x 9” with a paper copy of the caption attached. They average ex to ex-m; the two smaller photos have creases where the caption is adhered. A photo with two images shows Bobby Knoop falling on top of Harmon Killebrew. Other photos with stars picture Roger Maris (who injured his knee) and Bill Freehan, Pete Rose and Tito Fuentes, Ron Santo and Rico Carty, Bob Uecker and Bob Aspromonte, Tommy John and Freehan, Bill Skowron and Don Wert, and Joe Torre, Eddie Mathews and others. Four of the photos capture player expressions that alone are worth our minimum bid: Paul Blair and Duke Sims, Ollie Brown and Clay Dalrymple, Jim Pagliaroni and Torre, and Don Pavletich and Jim O’Toole. Subjects of other photos are Jesus Alou, Pagliaroni and umpire Stan Landes, Johnny Callison and Sonny Jackson, Fred Valentine and Dick Egan, Jim Fregosi and Clete Boyer, Lee Thomas and Jerry Grote, Doug Clemens and Fuentes, Jim Davenport and Callison (three images), and Tommy Davis and Bob Taylor. Two of these photos were distributed by Wide World.
