Lot 139.  Maryland Basketball – 65+ Items, Some from the 2002 Championship Season. This collection consists of periodicals, programs and other memorabilia, including one relatively scarce book, Maryland Basketball: Red, White and Amen by Kent Baker, 1979, nm in a vg-ex dust jacket. One of the more important and oldest item is the program from the 1932 dedication of Ritchie Coliseum, ex-m. The coliseum played host to Terrapin sports, including basketball, for 22 years. The 44-page program is extensively illustrated, including photos of the Maryland team and the Terps’ first opponent, Navy. A Race to the Top Ten: Maryland Basketball 71-72 focuses on the NIT Championship team that included Tom McMillen, vg. Programs: 1957 vs. North Carolina State, g-vg; 1967 vs. Duke, vg, and Clemson, ex-m; 1976 ACC Tournament, ex+, and 2002 vs. Virginia (2), one ex-m and one vg. Lot 152.  15 1970s Topps Basketball Star Cards – Erving, Robertson, Maravich, West, Etc. These cards span 1974-79. 1974-75T: #55 Robertson ex-m+, 176 West ex-m and 200 Irving vg-ex. 1975-76T: #1 Scoring Avg. Leaders nm, 80 Havlicek ex-m+ and 300 Erving nm. 1976-77T: #101 Malone ex-m and 130 Maravich nm-m. 1977-78T: #70 Havlicek ex-m and 111 Parish rookie (2) 1 is ex-m the other ex. 1978-79T: #130 Erving nm+ and 132 Dantley vg. And 1979-80T: #20 Erving (2) one ex+ and the other ex.

Lot 153.  6 Basketball Books Including Bill Bradley’s Life on the Run. The 1976 book by the basketball Hall of Fame member and former U.S. Senator is vg-ex in a g+ to vg dust jacket. Two books are coffee-table sized: Basketball: The American Game by Joe Jares, 1971, ex-library vg book and vg-ex dj, and Inside Basketball, Dick Barnett, 1971, vg+, dj absent. Two books are novels: A Mile Above the Rim, Charles Rosen, 1976, ex/ex, and Pivot Man, Dick Friendlich, 1950 paperback, vg+. The sixth book is Pro Basketball: Its Superstars and History, Zander Hollander, 1971 paperback, ex.

Lot 154.  Collection of 15 Basketball Guides and Periodicals. Four magazines, all dated Feb. 12, 1996 and all nm or better, have Magic Johnson covers: Time, Sports Illustrated, Newsweek and U.S. News. Other periodicals with basketball players on the cover are the Jan. 1947 Sports Stars (small photo cut from one page; otherwise) vg, March 1995 Sports Spectrum vg-ex and the premier issue of College Prevue, 1993, Eric Montross cover, nm. The Sports Star issue has a cover with a player who appears to be auditioning for a vampire move, and an article inside calls basketball the “ugly ducking (sic, duckling) of the sports world.” Three TSN NBA Guides are offered for 1977-78 (Walton Cover), 1978-79 (Unseld cover) and 1983-84 (Erving and Jabbar), vg+ to ex, There also is a 1974-75 Pro Basketball Guide from Snibbe Publications, ex-m. Other publications are three copies of the guide for the 1994 NBA Draft, nm, and the illustrated NCAA Official Read-Easy Basketball Rules 1973, nm. Also, two 1995 All-Star ballots.
