Lot 29. 79 1957 Topps Cards – Some Good-Looking, Almost all with Condition Deficiencies. With few exceptions, these cards have pin holes or some problem on the back. The highest grade, vg+ to ex, goes to #14. Some other cards without pin holes include #38 Fox p (and we mean it), 56 p, 74 g and 134 f. In all other cases, grades indicate the appearance of the card without the problem identified. Fifty-one cards have pin holes; a few also have glue residue or back damage. The cards with pin holes include #12 Drysdale rookie (nice-looking) vg, 30 Reese ex, 50 Score f, 55 Banks (heavy back damage) vg+ front, 70 Ashburn vg, 90 Spahn vg, 120 Lemon f, 138 Minoso vg-ex and 215 Slaughter vg. Eight cards have glue residue on the back, with all type readable. Among them are #130 Newcombe vg and four team cards, which otherwise have an ex appearance. Eight cards have tape on the back. Four are trimmed, including #210 Campanella, two have writing on them, including #324, the Dodgers team card, and one has back damage. Most of these cards have a very decent appearance. Proceeds from the sale of this lot will benefit the Society for American Baseball Research, a non-profit membership organization open to all that fosters the research, preservation, and dissemination of the history and record of baseball.
