New York Yankees   8 Lots

Lot 168.  Joe DiMaggio Autographed 40th Anniversary Hitting Streak Envelope by Gateway. Featuring a colorful 2 ¼” x 3” silk cachet of DiMaggio, the envelope was postmarked at Cleveland on July 16, 1981. On July 16, 1941, DiMaggio’s hitting streak reached 56 games in a contest with the Indians.  His streak remains unequaled. The envelope is unsealed and nm. DiMaggio’s signature in bold blue sharpie is a 10. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.
Winning Bid $100.

Lot 170.  Roger Maris Autograph on an Unlined Index Card. Strong ballpoint signature, a gem mint 10, with a minor background distraction. The autograph was written on an index-sized section of paper that has Casey Stengel’s autograph on the back. The section was then glued to an index card. The other autograph shows through lightly to moderately behind “Maris,” and there is a tiny hole near the “M” that does not touch the letter. Nice example of a tough autograph authenticated by Kevin Keating.
Winning Bid $180.

Lot 177.  1982 New York Yankees Team Photo Signed by Steinbrenner, 25 Others. George Steinbrenner’s signature in the lower right of the 8” x 10” b&w photo is strong and personalized to “Peter.” Generally, the signatures are 9s and 10s, although some show less boldly on the dark background. The signers include Dave Winfield, Yogi Berra, Goose Gossage, Roger Erickson, Rudy May, Jerry Mumphrey, Doyle Alexander, George Frazier, Ken Griffey, Dave Collins, Kave LaRoche, Lou Piniella, Shane Rawley, Ron Guidry, Roy Smalley, Graig Nettles, Bobby Murcer, Barry Foote, John Mayberry, Willie Randloph, Jeff Torborg, Clyde King, Rick Cerone and Mike Ferraro. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.
Winning Bid $75.

Lot 178.  17 Photos Autographed by Yankees – Berra, Roberts, Skowron, Slaughter, Etc. The signatures are gem mint 10s without personalization on 8” x 10” color photos unless otherwise noted. All photos are different: Yogi Berra, two, on a great b&w portrait and on an 8 ¼” x 11” photo showing him with Mickey Mantle; Hank Bauer (died 2007), Jim Coates, Tom Ferrick (b&w, d. 1996), Tom Henrich (2), Ralph Houk, Eddie Leon, Bob Lemon (nm-m 8 autograph, d. 2000), Bobby Richardson (2), Robin Roberts, Moose Skowron, Enos Slaughter (2, d. 2002) and Ralph Terry. The photos are generally nm or better. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.
Winning Bid $148.

Lot 207.  7 Yankees vs. Dodgers World Series Programs or Scorecards, 1949-56. Five Dodgers and three Yankees programs. The 1949 Dodgers program is poor, missing pages 23-28. The portion that is present, which includes photos and biographical sketches of Jackie Robinson and Joe DiMaggio, has an f-g appearance. The 48-page 1952 Dodgers program is vg with the owner’s 3” x 3 ½” label on an inside page. The Yankee version, neatly scored for Game 4, is poor (and we mean it) with water damage and pages sticking together. For 1953, a two-panel Dodgers scorecard is partially scored, and “Gilliam” is misspelled in the pre-printed lineup; g with a 1” tear. A 1953 Dodgers program scored for Game 4 has a p-f front cover with writing on it and vg-ex pages. The 1956 Dodgers program has a torn cover with writing on it and vg-ex pages with miscellaneous writing on eight of them. The Yankees’ version of the 1956 program is ex-m, neatly scored for Game 4. Two pages behind the scored pages do show some ink transfer. These programs are accompanied by four reprint World Series programs: 1916 Dodgers-Red Sox, 1920 Dodgers-Indians and 1947 and 1956, Dodgers-Yankees. The 1956 reprint shows scoring for Don Larsen’s perfect game. The reprints average ex-m. Proceeds from the sale of this lot will benefit the Society for American Baseball Research, a non-profit membership organization open to all that fosters the research, preservation, and dissemination of the history and record of baseball.
Winning Bid $113.

Lot 241.  7 Store Model Player-Endorsed Bats – Ruth, Mantle, Williams, Foxx, Etc. Six bats are from Hillerich & Bradsby. The exception is a 34” “Big Leaguer” K120 Ted Williams model from Yale of New Haven, ex. H&B’s 40 B.R. George “Babe” Ruth bat is from the 1930s, 35” long and g-vg. It is cracked and has dead wood and a nail on the back; the George “Babe” Ruth impression is 6-7 of 10. A contemporary of the Ruth bat is the 1933 Jimmie Foxx “Special” with “125 J.F.S.” on the label. This “Powerized and Oil Tempered” bat is 34” long and vg with dead wood on the back, some wear on the logo, a strong impression of Foxx’s name and a handle that has had tape removed. Mickey Mantle is represented by a 34” K55 model from 1977-79. Ex+ bat with a couple of small chips and some green stains near his name on the barrel. The other bats are a 35” Martinez R161 model, handle cracked on the back, ex appearance; a 34” 125S Ed Mathews model, “Full Flamed,” vg-ex with Mathews’ name 4-5 of 10, and a 32” Jackie Robinson model with all stampings worn away.
Winning Bid $125.
